This charming set of three vintage marmalade pots offers a tangible link to Britain’s rich breakfast-table history. The collection includes two Keiller & Sons marmalade pots and one Frank Cooper’s Seville Marmalade pot, all original earthenware examples that show the honest signs of age and use acquired over decades.
James Keiller & Son, founded in Dundee in the late 18th century, were pioneers of commercial marmalade production, while Frank Cooper’s of Oxford became famous for its Seville orange marmalade in the 19th century. Pots like these would once have sat in pantries and on kitchen shelves across the country, used daily rather than kept for display — which makes surviving examples all the more evocative.
Each pot displays heavy crazing, along with small chips and surface wear, consistent with their age and long working lives. These imperfections add depth and authenticity, making them especially appealing to collectors and lovers of true vintage kitchenware.
Today, these marmalade pots lend themselves beautifully to decorative reuse. They look wonderful planted with bulbs or herbs, used as a paintbrush or utensil holder, or styled on open shelving to add texture and warmth to a country or vintage-inspired interior.
