Benefits of N-Acetyl Cysteine Supplement (NAC)

  • Nothing but active ingredients
  • Promotes antioxidant activity*
  • Respiratory aid*
  • Supports the body’s detoxification process*

N-acetyl cysteine (or NAC) is a derivative of the amino acid cysteine. NAC acts as a precursor to glutathione, a potent antioxidant compound made in the body. Glutathione’s strong antioxidant properties help prevent damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals. Proper stores of glutathione support the immune system and help to neutralize toxins, including heavy metals.*

Trace minerals selenium and molybdenum provide extra support to glutathione’s many amazing properties.*

Taking NAC may be more beneficial than taking oral glutathione, as glutathione doesn’t fare well during digestion and isn’t well absorbed. Taking a glutathione precursor like NAC, however, allows for the production of intercellular glutathione, and NAC is readily absorbed during digestion.*

NAC has also been helpful in reducing symptoms of respiratory disorders, including coughing, wheezing and phlegm. NAC is particularly good at thinning thick phlegm. NAC binds to the sulfur in mucus and deteriorates the structure, making it easier to expel the mucus out the airways.* This feature makes NAC a great supplement to have around not just for cold and flu season, but for allergy season too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the capsule size?
A: Capsule size 0.

Q; What type of capsule does this product come in?
A: This comes in a gelatin capsule. The gelatin is derived from bovine hide (beef skin).

Q: What is the difference between L-cysteine and N-acetyl cysteine?
A: L-cysteine can be made in the body or it can be derived from protein-rich foods. N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) can only be obtained from supplement or pharmaceutical drug form. NAC can be broken down into L-cysteine once inside the body. While L-cysteine plays important roles in building vital proteins in the body, NAC is known for being a precursor to glutathione, the body's master antioxidant.

Q: Why does this product smell rancid?
A: NAC naturally contains sulfur, which has an unpleasant smell. The odor is harmless to you and does not affect the product in any way. To keep our products as pure as possible, we don't add any manufacturing agents to mask the smell.

Q: The capsules I received have colored specks in them. Is that normal?
A: Yes, the appearance is normal. Our NAC capsules also contain selenium and molybdenum. The selenium raw material that we use is tan in color and the molybdenum raw material that we use is white with light blue specks. Combining all three raw materials together gives an overall appearance of off-white with tan/brown and blue/grey specks scattered throughout the capsule. To keep our products as pure as possible, we do not add any agents that mask the true color of the raw materials we use.

Just Pure Ingredients: At Dr. Clark Store, we stand against adulteration. Our rigorous testing reveals that an estimated 30% of bulk supplement powders in the U.S. market contain added fillers and/or come from incorrect species or plant parts. Unlike importers who operate according to FDA 21 CFR 117 and often rely on analyses done by the manufacturer abroad, we conduct thorough tests on all incoming materials in our full-size laboratory, guaranteeing the integrity of our products.

Carrageenan and Surfactant-Free Capsules: FDA regulation 21 CFR 101.100(a)(3)(ii) allows manufacturers to avoid disclosing ingredients in food if present at “insignificant” levels. What is N-Acetyl Cysteine?

N-Acetyl Cysteine, commonly known as NAC, is a powerful supplement that acts as a precursor to the antioxidant glutathione. Because of its unique properties, NAC helps support overall health and plays a crucial role in immune function. However, it is not just an antioxidant; NAC also aids in detoxification and enhances respiratory function. This is why many people choose NAC 575 mg capsules to attain these health benefits.

Why Choose NAC Supplements?

Choosing NAC supplements can significantly improve your health. These capsules provide a convenient dosage that can easily fit into your daily regimen. Furthermore, NAC has been shown to help reduce oxidative stress in the body, thus protecting cells from damage. Therefore, integrating NAC into your diet means actively promoting better health and supporting your body's natural defenses.

Key Health Benefits of NAC

NAC supplements offer a variety of health benefits, making them an essential addition to your wellness routine. They may help alleviate symptoms of respiratory conditions by thinning mucus, allowing easier breathing. Also, NAC supports liver health by aiding in detoxifying harmful substances. Most importantly, with its antioxidant properties, NAC can help combat inflammation, making it a vital choice for individuals seeking to enhance their overall well-being.

FAQs

What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is a potent antioxidant found in every cell of the human body, composed of three amino acids: cysteine, glutamine, and glycine. Often referred to as the "master antioxidant," it plays an essential role in protecting cells from oxidative stress and damage caused by free radicals. Glutathione is vital for detoxification processes, supports immune function, aids in the metabolism of fats and proteins, and even helps regenerate other antioxidants. Given its numerous functions, it is crucial for maintaining overall health, fighting inflammation, and preventing chronic diseases.

What is NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine)?

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is a supplement derived from cysteine, a sulfur-containing amino acid that is crucial for the synthesis of glutathione. NAC is well-known for its ability to increase glutathione levels in the body, making it an essential supplement for supporting detoxification, enhancing immune system function, and promoting respiratory health. NAC has also shown promise in reducing oxidative stress, alleviating symptoms of chronic diseases, and supporting mental health by influencing neurotransmitter regulation in the brain.

How Do Glutathione and NAC Differ?

While both glutathione and NAC are integral to antioxidant defense in the body, their roles differ. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that directly neutralizes free radicals and helps protect cells from oxidative damage. It is involved in several biochemical processes, including detoxification, immune response, and cellular repair. On the other hand, NAC serves as a precursor to glutathione. When taken as a supplement, NAC boosts the production of glutathione in the body, indirectly enhancing the body’s ability to neutralize harmful free radicals and support overall detoxification. Essentially, NAC is a building block that supports the body's natural glutathione production.

What Are the Anti-Aging Benefits of Glutathione?

Glutathione is often considered a key player in anti-aging due to its role in reducing oxidative stress, which is one of the main factors in the aging process. Oxidative stress accelerates skin aging, causing wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of elasticity. Glutathione helps to neutralize free radicals, the unstable molecules that damage skin cells and cause premature aging. By protecting the skin and supporting healthy cellular function, glutathione can contribute to a more youthful appearance, reduce signs of aging, and promote overall skin health, making it a popular addition to skincare regimens.

How Does NAC Contribute to Detoxification?

NAC is particularly effective in enhancing the body's detoxification processes. One of its primary roles is boosting glutathione levels, which is essential for liver function and detoxification. Glutathione helps the liver break down and eliminate harmful toxins, heavy metals, and pollutants from the body. By increasing glutathione production, NAC supports the liver’s ability to detoxify more efficiently, thereby improving overall health and helping the body manage environmental toxins more effectively. Additionally, NAC’s antioxidant properties protect cells from oxidative damage during the detox process, contributing to better overall detoxification.

Can Glutathione Support Liver Cleansing?

Yes, glutathione is a crucial component in supporting liver health and function. The liver is the body’s primary detoxification organ, and glutathione plays a vital role in the liver’s ability to neutralize and eliminate toxins, free radicals, and waste products. It aids in the proper functioning of detoxification enzymes and helps break down harmful substances. Furthermore, glutathione protects liver cells from oxidative damage, which can result from the buildup of toxins. Supplementing with glutathione or supporting its production through NAC can help enhance liver cleansing and promote long-term liver health.

Are There Any Side Effects of Taking NAC or Glutathione?

Both NAC and glutathione are generally considered safe when taken in appropriate doses. However, some individuals may experience mild side effects, such as gastrointestinal discomfort, including bloating, nausea, or diarrhea. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur, leading to symptoms such as rashes, swelling, or difficulty breathing. It is important to consult a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have pre-existing medical conditions. Your healthcare provider can help you determine the most suitable dosage and ensure the supplements are safe for your specific needs.

Can I Take NAC and Glutathione Together?

Yes, taking NAC and glutathione together can be highly beneficial. Since NAC serves as a precursor to glutathione, supplementing with both can help elevate glutathione levels more effectively, enhancing its antioxidant effects and supporting overall detoxification processes. This combination is often used to maximize the body’s natural ability to combat oxidative stress, improve immune function, and promote cellular repair. Many individuals who are looking to optimize their health, prevent aging, or support liver function find that taking both supplements together provides synergistic benefits.

How Should I Take NAC and Glutathione for Optimal Results?

To achieve optimal results, it is important to follow the recommended dosages for NAC and glutathione supplements, which can vary based on individual health needs. NAC is typically taken as a supplement in capsule or powder form, with the standard dosage ranging from 600 to 1,200 mg per day. Glutathione can be taken as a supplement, either in oral form or through intravenous administration (IV) for more immediate effects. Some food sources, such as whey protein, also support glutathione production naturally. For the best outcomes, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional to determine the most appropriate dosage based on your specific health goals and needs.

What Foods Can Boost My Body’s Glutathione Levels?

Certain foods can naturally support and enhance your body’s glutathione production. Foods rich in sulfur-containing amino acids, such as garlic, onions, and cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and Brussels sprouts), are particularly beneficial for boosting glutathione levels. Additionally, foods high in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, grapefruit) and strawberries, can help regenerate glutathione in the body. Including these foods in your diet can help promote the natural production of glutathione and support overall health, including improved immune function, detoxification, and cellular protection.

Decent read
Format: Kindle
Normally I just give stars and very few times do I review in words. I like the book. I like the FMC. I just think there should have been a bit more build up? Storytelling? Its just a wee bit disjointed on so many levels. This girl is smart. But cant throw a punch? Especially from the bad area she lived in? She's too calm about everything in my opinion and definitely something is just off. This needed more writing out. More explanation. More something that wasn't there in my opinion.. again. Besides that I felt like it had a good story line if not a bit disjointed.

A street Smart, Book smart driven FMC? Sign me up
Format: Paperback
This was a non stop read for me. Vogue is a FMC that you fall in love with as soon as the story starts. She has worked her behind off to get into Crestmont University and she is not about to roll over and let anyone take what she has coming to her from her! She is not only book smart but street smart as well which helps her out a lot! Especially with Callum, Quentin, Thayer and Harrison. She is totally willing to take charge and take care of her business. I am so glad that the 2nd book is being released at the same time because I know I could not wait to read it. I swear This book will keep you guessing and not wanting to put it down at all! Loved this duet! Eve Newton really honestly did it yet again!

big let down
Format: Kindle
The first book was so rushed, I really hoped #2 would have more story. Some of the content was ridiculous - not believable in any sense. Even the spicy sex scenes fell flat. I felt I needed to finish it but I didn’t want to. I usually and stuck in the book and can’t wait for the next chapter. It was just a let down.

AMAZING debut novel!!!
Format: Kindle
Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice 🌶️🌶️.5 Romance 💘💘💘 Vibes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dual 1st person POV - Ara (26) & Rogue (39 - but looks mid-20s: they can live hundreds of years so this isn't that large of a gap as it could've been which I heavily appreciate lol) Tropes: enemies to lovers, fae/human wars (deep hatred for each other), shifters (dragons- MMC can only partial shift with wings), one horse, one bed, touch her and d!e, found family, abduction turned to freedom The Last Storm is the debut novel from JD Linton and let me tell you, you guys NEED to read this. The plot was engaging and the editing was was amazing (especially for a debut novel). Our FMC, Ara, is stuck in her gilded cage longing for a life outside of her small town. She uses her books to escape and live vicariously through the pages (honestly, relatable). After her father announces her betrothal to her childhood friend (to whom she has no romantic feelings for), Ara tumbles unknowingly into a desperate plot trying to stop the humans from slaughtering the Fae. As one can expect from an enemies to lovers / kidnapper/captive romance, Ara fights her attraction and lust towards our MMC, Rogue (the King of the Fae), for as long as she can. Upon seeing Ara for the first time, Rogue is instantly aware that she is his fated mate (not a spoiler). Since she is the General's only daughter, he plans to abduct her and use her as leverage to stop the brutality. During Ara's time in Rogue's captivity, their banter and chemistry continue to rise until they finally boil over and come together (quite literally, and many times I may add 😉). Here's what I LOVED: - Rogue continuously seeks advice from his elders and deeply respects their opinions and life experience and tries to implement their recommendations - Rogue makes many mistakes in the beginning but we see him actively work on not repeating them as the book progresses. The level of self-awareness and his ability to change his behavior was impressive - The magic system is intricate and we have only scraped the surface. As the series continues and Ara progresses in her powers, I'm sure we'll get to see more of this. I absolutely LOVE the messaging system that is used in this book. - Ara's struggles are so human and so raw. She is experiencing so much guilt and pain and hurt and getting to see her work through each of these emotions is inspiring. Especially as her and Rogue get closer and she learns she can lean on him as well, that she is not alone. - While this is the start of a series, there is NO cliffhanger! There's a bit of a teaser of something major that is going to happen at the start of the next book, but it's not a cliffhanger in the sense that we aren't sure if someone is going to live or d!e or if they'll be separated. For that, I am very thankful! This book was so much fun that I will definitely be returning to book 2, even if it takes several months (or longer since this is an debut author) to publish! - Lastly, the cover is GORGEOUS! And I love the title! I'll copy a few of my favorite quotes below so you can have a little taste of the author's writing and the world she's cultivated. 😊 Top Highlights from The Last Storm On days like this, when my heart was heavy and my mind clouded, I resorted to books— to escape, to forget, to find freedom where I had none. If I were to marry him, my face would always be turned to the window, searching for more, and if not that, I would be a shell of the person I am now. I stepped back to admire her, thr0bbing at the sight. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. To ever exist. Nothing, no one, had ever deserved to be worshiped more. All men should be made to kneel before her. But she would have to settle for me. The taste of her met my t0ngue as my scent merged with hers, forever branding her. Mine. I l!cked the wound. Hers. Completely and utterly hers. I didn’t claim her in ownership. I claimed her as my one. Devoted myself to one. With that mark, my body and soul were bound to her. I would never be with anyone else, emotionally or physically. It would be her or no one, until my last breath. “Scream my name. Let everyone know who I belong to.” I had never really cared about the weather before, but now, clear skies meant everything to me, and I was grateful to see another calm morning. “There will never be another woman for me.” He paused. “Ever.” I stilled at his words. “What… Why?” “This”— his thumb slid down across the mark—“ is a symbol of… surrender. I know you believe that it was my claim upon you, but it wasn’t. It never was. I bound my body and soul to you, little storm.” “I also know that it is more than this tiny, insignificant mark on your skin that binds me to you. It’s you. All of you. Your strength and resilience. Your determination to endure no matter what fate throws at you. Your love for love and stories and hope. You are entirely the opposite of everything that I am and I would gladly wear your shackles if it meant I could have you.” My mate. Mine. And then everything shifted and I understood. I understood everything. The surrender. The deep, soul-craving longing. Bound. I was bound to him. Body and soul. Entirely his. “I would’ve waited forever,” he whispered back, understanding. Seriously, everyone.. add this to your TBR!!
