Newsome has worked within the format of the vessel for forty years, exploring ideas of abundance, time, and fertility. Newsome grew up in the redwood forests of California, earning her BA in Biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and her Masters in Art with a Ceramics Emphasis at San Francisco State University. She lives in Mesa, Arizona, sharing a studio with her husband and fellow artist Jeff Reich.
