Roger and Brian Eno’s acclaimed creative collaboration continues with seven additional tracks

Brian and Roger Eno have revolutionised many concepts of music production and performance, from Brian’s pioneering treatments of pop music to his younger brother Roger’s ambient synth/piano recordings, reminiscent of Erik Satie.

These qualities resonate on Mixing Colours. Each brings his unerring sense of place and mood to the album. The timbre in each title deepens and opens up with each listening. Specific yet abstract titles guide listeners through the collection created over several years in a unique collaboration between these two artists.

The result is deep-dive listening and landscapes of sound bearing titles like those of abstract art: “Obsidian”, “Deep Saffron”, “Wintergreen”…

Following its release in March, the Eno brothers’ debut Deutsche Grammophon album, Mixing Colours, caught the imagination of critics and listeners alike with its eighteen meditations on the slow, shifting nature of sound and time. Now their acclaimed creative collaboration continues with Luminous, a 12" EP containing seven new tracks.

Again, the evocative titles are colour-based – “Moss”, “Violet”, “Manganese”, “Vermilion”, “Marble”, “Pewter” and “Malachite”. And again, the pared-down beauty and meditative qualities of these new miniatures mean that every hearing is rewarded with fresh discoveries.

As with the album, the artist Dom Theobald has again supplied original cover artwork for Luminous, and to support smaller retailers as they reopen with the easing of lockdown measures, a special version of the EP on sun yellow vinyl, with a different version of the cover artwork, will also be available.

“As the world collapses, it’s hard to imagine a better way to self-soothe than immersing yourself in Mixing Colours,” observed The Times (London) in its five-star review. The recording was described as “a balm for these anxious times” by the Observer (London) and by NPR as a “steadying sound in the age of social distancing, soothing and transfixing at the same time”.

There’s a huge commonality between what we’re interested in.” Roger Eno

These pieces are very Impressionistic and very much to do with sonic quality, sonic colour.” Brian Eno

Cotton Blend Was Just Too thick
Size: 3X-Large, Color: Black
I was surprised by how thick these boxers were, thicker than my jeans, much thicker than my PJs! Thick enough that I could wear them outside the home without jeans. In spite of the thickness, they were soft and very comfortable. The 3XL is a perfect fit on my 5’2” apple shaped, short waisted 215 lb body. The boxer cut helped prevent chafing, a major plus. Menstrual pads, with or without wings, do not adhere to this material, a major minus. Ultimately, feeling like I was wearing jeans to bed or wearing two pairs of pants outside the home, was just too uncomfortable for me. So disappointed because these boxers were such a great and comfortable fit.

Comfortable and cool. Does not ride up.
Color: 01-multicolour (4-pack), Size: Medium
Extremely comfortable. Stays cool. Ample coverage. Quality material. They do not creep up. I ordered a medium which I generally take a size small. I have reordered and will reorder again to add more colors to my collection.

Great Value for Cool Thigh Protection
Color: 02-multicolour (4-pack), Size: XX-Large
For the price, I'm not sure there are better women's boxer shortlettes anywhere. I've tried more expensive brands, and for quality and cooling, these are right up there. I have other bamboo viscose undies that still get gross when I get sweaty in the summer, but these, with the large mesh panel, really help wick away a lot of that moisture, keeping you feeling dryer and cooler. I find that the leg openings are comfortable and don't roll up! and the waist band doesn't dig, nor does it roll down. These do not provide any compression, and I wasn't looking for any. I just wanted some cooling, thigh protecting women's boxers that wouldn't break the bank. These are them! Bonus- I've washed them and put them in the dryer (following their instructions), and they haven't shrunk; they look about the same and are nice and soft.

Great for the entire family but expensive
So far so good. The brand of boxers we had been buying changed their style and construction so we needed to find an alternative. These have held up well so far to multiple weeks of frequent washing and wearing from the entire family. We did size up from the usual 6/M we normally buy and ordered large to prevent the legs from rolling up which worked out great. Our daughter likes the length and how soft the fabric is for wearing under skirts and gym shorts and liners stay put without moving or leaking as another reviewer mentioned. Our son says they are comfortable and fit well being just supportive enough without being constrictive. We all agree that there seems to be not enough fabric in the back as they tend to be much tighter across the backside than the front and that also causes the waist band to ride lower in the back than the front. These have better seam placement than some brands we tried with no seam across the lady bits and no seam down the middle of the back side so they are more much comfortable but the cost is also much higher and that is why we're only giving it 4 stars. These will stay in the rotation until we find something cheaper that both us and the kids like.
