"An informative, simply written account of the impressive arc of Ginsburg's life."
--Publisher's Weekly

Before taking her place as the second woman on the Supreme Court of the United States, Ruth Bader Ginsburg quietly led a revolution and forever changed life in America for both men and women. Reserved and quiet, she didn't set out to be a trailblazer, but there was something in her way: the law. Hundreds of years of legal precedent, a line of devastating Supreme Court cases, and countless statutes depriving women of equal citizenship and keeping them from full participation in the legal and political process.

Mixing social and legal history with a moving and intimate biography, award-winning author Teri Kanefield captures a turbulent era and tells the story of how Ruth Bader Ginsburg defied expectations to become one of the most influential and powerful women in America.

"We hear many voices in this wonderfully engaging biography of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and come away with a far richer understanding of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and of what the rise of feminism has meant for all of us, whatever our gender, whatever our politics."
--Kathleen Vanden Heuvel, Law Library Director, Adjunct Professor of Law, University of California, Berkeley School of Law

"An absorbing personal biography of Ruth Bader Ginsburg that is also equal parts legal history and political philosophy. Like Ginsburg herself, Kanefield's narrative is precise, candid, logical, yet filled with humor and irony. She shows the reader the warmth and humility behind a serious legal mind. Free to Be Ruth Bader Ginsburg will appeal to a wide range of readers and is a valuable addition to all types of libraries."
--Suzy Szasz Palmer, Past President, Virginia Library Association

"An engrossing biography of Ruth Bader Ginsburg that doubles as a primer on how America's champions for gender equality pressed their cause in the courts. Recommended for every law student, lawyer, and lay reader looking for an authoritative yet readable treatment of how the law shapes women's lives, and vice-versa."
--Kathleen Morris, Associate Professor of Law, Golden Gate Law School

"Free to Be is a richly detailed biography offering fascinating insights into the groundbreaking career of Ruth Bader Ginsberg and at the same time charting for readers a thorough and engaging history of the law of sex discrimination and equal protection jurisprudence that she helped to shape. Kanefield's book is a must read, not only for fans of RBG but for anyone interested in a more complete understanding of the evolution of women's rights and legal status in the U.S."
--Sharmilla Lodhia, Associate Professor, Women's and Gender Studies, Santa Clara University

"Free to Be is a must read for those who love history, want to know more about the women's rights movement, or have an interest in modern politics and culture. I highly recommend it "
--Kristi Jensen, Librarian, University of Minnesota

This one is a keeper…
Size: 36D, Color: Nude
Bra shopping is truly one of my least favorite things to do, and it is always so frustrating to me. Online bra shopping tends to be even worse, so I had little hope for this bra but took a chance anyway. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! A true test for me is whether or not I notice I’m wearing it. I’ve worn it off and on for several days and I totally forget about it. Having nurses two babies and approaching my 40s, my girls need a lot of support and this bra delivered. I thankfully discovered years ago that if you have deflated mom boobs, an unlined cup is the best way to take what you have and give it shape. This one does just that. I have very mixed feelings on the lace though. On the one hand, it is sexy and feminine and I don’t find that in bras very much anymore (at least not ones that provide the kind of lift and support that I require). However, the lace is very noticeable through a shirt. I really can only wear this bra with a thick top or sweater. Otherwise, it’s just too noticeable and I’m not comfortable with that. Wearing a cami underneath a top helps slightly though. Overall, I’m glad I have this bra and I’ll be ordering another color. It feels well made, the material is nice, and it gives my bust a shapely (and youthful 😭) appearance. I wore it all day in 90+ heat at Magic Kingdom and it didn’t bother me at all, so it definitely qualifies as lightweight and comfortable in my book. I took a stab at a size and the 36D feels right. I *maybe* could have gotten a 34 but the 36 doesn’t feel loose on the tightest loops. On occasion, depending on the brand, I can be either a D or DD. I think this is worth trying and looks more expensive than it really is!

Gorgeous Bra, But My Chest Declined the Opportunity
Size: 40C, Color: Black, Size: 40C, Color: Black
This bra is genuinely beautiful and very well made. The fabric, stitching, and overall construction felt much more expensive than I expected. Unfortunately, my body once again reminded me that I am apparently not built according to standard human engineering specs. Every few years I convince myself, “Surely this time I am a normal-sized woman who can wear regular bras.” Then I order one designed for actual flesh-bearing individuals and reality humbles me immediately. The cups stood there optimistically waiting to be filled while my chest contributed little to the project. The straps also kept sliding off my narrow shoulders like they were trying to escape the situation entirely. None of this is the bra’s fault. The fabric is soft, silky, and looks like money. It's just as pretty as the photos. The straps appear as though they could support a lot for a long time. The bra did its job. My body simply refused to participate. If you have average proportions and shoulders that can support standard straps, this is probably a fantastic purchase. I, however, must return to my specialized tiny-person undergarments and accept my fate.

I really like this bra, but...
The bra fir great and I wish I could keep it. The big downfall is the lace and the middle seam. Both show thruogh any shirt material so you can't ear it under anything without the bra showing through as bumpy. I'm returing it for that reason along.
