Living persons produce living offspring after their kind. The catalogue of beautiful virtues outlined by the apostle Paul in his letter to the Galatians (Gal. 5:22‑23) constitutes what we believe is perfectly permissible to call the Holy Spirit’s family or offspring.

A few minutes in thoughtful meditation with each of these fine daughters will enrich our personal experience and deepen our desire to be more like them, and thus add to our Christian character and personality. Their names are Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance. Every human heart has room, and need, in it for the permanent residence of each and every member of this most holy family. Each and all of them will be at home and happy in your heart with their Father, the Holy Spirit. They are a family which refuses to be separated.

In the hope that this little book will prove a blessing and inspiration to every reader, we humbly submit it to the public.
