Aged mostly in first fill American oak with touches of heavily toasted new French oak (a practice almost unheard of in the whisky world) and first fill sherry butt. A host of delicious sweet notes with apples, pears, toffee, vanilla and banoffee pie coming through. Cakey notes slowly give way to reveal a little citrus tang. The smooth sweetness continues with toffee apples, raisins and fruit salad but is also bulked out with a good balance of cinnamon apple bake with nutmeg, ground nuts and a dusting of brown sugar. A slightly fiery finish with some grapefruit and toast rounds off one of the best blended whiskies.
