Redolent with symbolism and images from the psalms, our 'Stag' fabric originated as a 14th-century pattern and contains a depiction of a tethered stag with a crown round its neck (also used as a heraldic sign of Richard II in the Wilton Diptych). A familiar Christian symbol, the stag also signifies the quest for God and God's presence in the world. Its many devotional implications make it one of our most popular fabrics. Original textiles of this pattern can be seen as part of The Met and V&A collections.
