Blackmagic Design Spares - ATEM 2M/E Panel - PCB Right SideThe Blackmagic Design Spares ATEM 2 M E Panel PCB (Right Side) is the internal control board located under the right hand section of the legacy 2 M E Advanced Panel or the original 2 M E Broadcast Panel. The Blackmagic Design Spares - ATEM 2 M/E Panel - PCB (Right Side) is the internal control board located under the right-hand section of the legacy 2 M/E Advanced Panel or the original 2 M/E Broadcast Panel.

In a 2 M/E panel, the electronics are often split into sections to manage the massive amount of tactile data. The Right Side PCB typically handles the System Control area, including the LCD Menu Screen, the Numeric Keypad, and the Joystick/Trackball interface (depending on the specific generation of the panel).

Core Responsibilities

  • Menu & LCD Interface: Drives the right-side LCD screen where you adjust settings like Chroma Key parameters, transitions, and system IP addresses.

  • Soft Knobs & Encoders: Manages the rotary encoders located underneath the LCD that allow for fine-tuning of values.

  • Joystick/Trackball Processing: Interprets the X, Y, and Z (twist) axis data for DVE positioning and color grading.

  • Numeric Entry: Processes the "10-key" pad used for entering transition rates, clip numbers, and IP settings.

  • Local Logic: Communicates the right-side user inputs back to the Master Controller PCB located in the center of the panel.

When to Replace the Right Side PCB

  • LCD Failure: The right-side screen is white, flickering, or has "dead lines," but the rest of the panel (buttons and faders) works perfectly.

  • Encoder Drift: When you turn the knobs under the screen, the values on the display jump erratically or don't move at all.

  • Joystick Malfunction: The DVE or PIP windows "drift" to the side, or the joystick no longer responds to movement.

  • Keypad "Ghosting": Pressing numbers on the right-side keypad results in the wrong numbers appearing or no response at all.

  • Liquid Damage: This section is often where operators place their coffee or water; a spill on the right side usually fries this specific board without killing the whole panel.

Technical Installation Note

Repair Level: 3 (Moderate). 1. Bottom Access: You must flip the entire 2 M/E panel (which is heavy) and remove a large number of screws to take off the bottom protective plate.

2. Ribbon Cable Mapping: This board is connected to the center "Master" board via a long ribbon cable. Ensure the cable is seated perfectly flat; if it is slightly crooked, you may get "garbage" data on the LCD.

3. Joystick Re-centering: If you replace this board, you may need to perform a Joystick Calibration in the panel’s "Maintenance" menu to tell the new PCB where the "dead center" position is.

4. Knob Removal: You will likely need to pull the plastic caps off the rotary encoders on the top side before the PCB can be dropped out of the chassis.

Diagnostic: Right Side PCB vs. Main Panel PCB

  • It's the Right Side PCB if: Only the menu screen, joystick, or numeric keypad are failing.

  • It's the Main Master PCB if: The entire panel won't boot, won't connect to the switcher over the network, or if the transition fader/buttons are also dead.

Pro-Tip: Cleaning before Replacing

Before ordering a new board due to "jumpy" encoders (the knobs under the screen):

  1. Remove the plastic knob cap.

  2. Use a tiny amount of DeoxIT Fader F-Series or high-grade contact cleaner on the encoder stem.

  3. Rotate it vigorously for 30 seconds.

This often fixes "skipping" menus and can save you from a full board replacement.

Are you experiencing a failure with the LCD screen specifically, or is the joystick/trackball not responding?

Good power strip for under-desk mount.
Size: 6FT, Style: 1 Pack
Affordable power strip. 12 plugs. Good build quality. It says "Surge Protector" in the product description, but without actually taking it apart, I don't actually think there's a surge protector or anything built in - there's no breaker/reset button, which is usually the giveaway for that. Also, no USB charge ports or any extras like that. The plugs aren't only spaced the normal width apart - you won't get many wall-wart style power supplies connected with this. That should be obvious from the product images but I figured I'd mention it. You can get little 8-12" pigtail M/F power cables for cheap that address that problem, though. Easy to attach to underside of desk with included brackets. They're through-hole, not that weird slot/key thing, which is a plus, IMHO. (The last power strip had used those, and after it fell off a few times, I jut gave up and it lived on the floor. This won't do that.) The brackets are visible in the produce images, but come screwed on in reverse - you have to unscrew and flip them before you have the tabs to attach things. I assume that's what "rotating" means in the product description. It makes sense - the product package can be a couple inches shorter and most people presumably don't use the clips anyway. I just think it's great they're there if you need them. Getting all the cords up off the floor makes it a lot easier to sweep or vacuum under the desk, and a lot hard for cats to disturb things. Satisfied customer here!

Solid, well-made product. I like that you can rotate-to-mount for different situations.
Size: 6FT, Style: 1 Pack
Heavy-duty chord, heavy-duty sockets, heavy-duty metal frame. Works well, and I like the lighted on/off switch. Being able to rotate and mount however needed makes it versatile. As clearly illustrated in the product description, the sockets are *really* close to each other, but that perfectly met my needs - but look for alternatives if you plan to plug in wall-warts and other space-consuming devices.

Before Mounting, Re-look at the photos for bracket position to save frustration!
Size: 3FT, Style: 1 Pack
Good, solid quality feel, fit and finish... BUT, as other comments indicate, the brackets can be confusing. They come positioned inward for compact fit in the box. Remove the mounting screw from the end, then SLIDE the bracket off, position the L-shape away from the strip for mounting and re-insert the power strip. Others mentioned lack of a tool for bracket removal but none is needed, they simply slide off (they don't rotate while seated). I (and others, per the comments) envisioned it mounted with brackets turned inward (as they came in the box) but doing that puts a screw head in the way of fully seating the unit into the bracket with misaligned mounting screw holes. Came back to this ad to look at the pictures and VIOLA -- set the brackets outward and screw holes align for perfect fit! Quite honestly, made me feel like a chimpanzee given a simple puzzle to solve, and I FAILED the test until looking at the pictures! Reading the reviews made me feel a little better, seeing I'm not the only one!! All that said, this power strip provides great bang for the buck. I'm using it to power my desktop computer with a three-monitor display and external storage drives.

Extraordinarily Useful
Size: 10FT, Style: 1 Pack
We use this to plug in all of our chargers (an off brand mini chain saw, off brand mini blower, and way to many (but we love and use them) Ryobi products). The are on a shelf, easy to get to, no cords tangled, no plugging and unplugging. Great decision because this is a great product.

Better for entertainment center
Size: 6FT, Style: 1 Pack
Have it mounted under my workshop desk the mount ability is simple and works good also have my phone plugged in and the ports work good, the length of the cable is good if you want it somewhat far from the outlet only thing is I wish with the design they spaced out the outlets since ryobi’s charging outlets are bricks but other than that zero complaints
