Cruel Futures is a witchy confessional and wildly imagistic volume that examines subjects as divergent as Alzheimers, Medusa, mumblecore, and mental illness in sharp-witted, taut poems dense with song. Chronicling life on an endangered planet, in a country on the precipice of profound change compelled by a media machine that produces our realities, the book is a high-energy analysis of popular culture, as well as an exploration of the many social roles that women occupy as mother, daughter, lover, and the resulting struggle to maintain personhood--all in a late capitalist America.

Praise for Cruel Futures

"Gim nez Smith seeks release from the pressures of societal expectations in this collection of brief yet powerful poems. ... Gim nez Smith's crisp lyrics and imagery highlight ever-present threats to female personhood and autonomy."--Publishers Weekly

"Cruel Futures is one of those rare books, rare pieces of art, that manages to be extremely intimate, vulnerable and close while also doing a kind of searing cultural critique. The poems can be tender or ironic, and sometimes a blending of the two, which is not easy."--Ross Gay

"In the body, through the lyric, and twitching with every sense of the word 'nerve, ' this book sings a mongrel nation into and across its cruel futures. Like Neruda in his Plenos Poderes/Full Powers, Gim nez Smith has all the mastery she needs to cast a cold eye on her positioning, and ours. In this way Cruel Futures is an autobiography that won't stay in its genre or premise, caring less to author a self than to follow turns of magic in words that might soothe our 'collisions with the living.'"--Farid Matuk

"Declamatory anthems to no nation, these songs stride as they deal and wheel with skin and kin: history, catastrophe, the body, love. 'Upturned and defiant, all types of shade, no outskirt, / vital like a saint, ' the poems in Cruel Futures shimmer with Gim nez Smith's lyric attention: full of grit, sharp and knowing."--Hoa Nguyen

Epson SureColor F170 Dye-Sublimation Printer. Includes Full Set of Ink
I recently invested in the Epson SureColor F170 Dye-Sublimation Printer, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This printer is designed specifically for dye-sublimation printing, offering vibrant, high-quality prints with incredible color accuracy and sharp details. The setup was straightforward, and the included full set of ink made it easy to start printing immediately without any extra purchases. The inks produce bright, durable prints that work wonderfully on a variety of sublimation-compatible materials like fabric, ceramics, and metal. What I appreciate most is the compact design of the F170 — it fits comfortably on my workspace without taking up too much room. The printer operates quietly and efficiently, making it ideal for both small business and hobbyist use. Print speeds are impressive for the quality delivered, and the Epson software integration helps streamline the printing process. Whether you’re creating custom apparel, personalized gifts, or promotional products, this printer provides consistent, professional-grade results. Overall, the Epson SureColor F170 is a reliable, user-friendly dye-sublimation printer that’s perfect for anyone looking to get into sublimation printing or upgrade their current setup. Highly recommended! Wish was borderless printing

I would not recommend if you can afford something more expensive
So far the sublimated color is not true: (example) the pretty pink comes out as orange on both polyester fabric and wooden coaster using the only three setting on the printer: paper, photo glossy, photo matt. There is no “presentation” setting for the excellent color I had on the Epson ET-2800 (which I would NOT recommend for durability nor Epson’s customer service!). I purchased Epson, again, ONLY because I could not afford other sublimation printers and this one had the best reviews of what I could find. But Epson has its customers held hostage by way of the ink. IF YOU USE ANY BRAND SUBLIMATION INK OTHER THAN EPSON, THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. And Epson ink is EXPENSIVE (“average” is ~ $0.55/print based on 200 pages/bottle) when compared to the brand offered on Amazon as a substitute. So I’d recommend buying the Assurion coverage if you plan to use sublimation ink other than Epson. That is the ONLY thing that saved me when the ET-2800 went Caput (twice!). (The last time it was trashed, so Assurion refunded the original purchase price—within the mfr warranty time which Epson refused to honor.)

Get’s the job done.
It works good. It didn't come with a cord or clear instructions on how to use it. I used my cord from my printer to get it started. I would have sent it back but you can't once you add ink.
