"Slim Aarons is known for his dreamy lifestyle photographs of celebrities and socialites in jaw-dropping locations around the world." --Architectural Digest

Since 1940 Slim Aarons has been hard at work, first as a war photographer, then with unprecedented access as a photographer to the rich and famous. In this book, he develops the environmental portrait to the level of art, always showing his subjects in their natural setting, in a circumstance synonymous with their station in life.

Aarons documented a particular world that has vanished. A Place in the Sun is that special glimpse of privilege under a bright and beaming sky, whether on sandy shore, snowy slope, or elegant home where cares are few. Through 250 stunning color pictures, Aarons provides a veritable who's who of high society:

Aristotle Onassis with his first wife, Tina, and their children

C. Z. Guest at her villa in Palm Beach

The Aga Khan at his Sardinian resort

Truman Capote in Palm Springs

And more!

From Mustique to Monaco, from Aspen to Gstaad, only Aarons can take us on a journey to the most exclusive playgrounds of the rich, inspiring even the most jaded armchair traveler.

Aarons never used a stylist, a makeup artist, or anything but natural light. Since the settings encouraged swimwear, it is astonishing how beautiful these men, women, and children were. There is a shimmering sensuality about this bygone world. Astonishing, too, is the vibrant intensity of the colors.

A Must Have For The Beginner
Format: Kindle
So I've had an the opportunity to spend time with this book and I have to say that I'm very satisfied. Normally when you're reading tech books that claim to be for beginners they assume that you know things and skips steps, but this book doesn't do that. I went from being super intimidated about programming and back end development, but this book eases your mind and makes you feel like you can do anything. And after reading it you start looking at programming in a completely different way. Pros: * Easy to comprehend * Well laid out * The tone of the author is very pleasant and not boring at all * Encourages you to experiment with what you've learned and encourages you to go out explore even further * He makes you feel smart * He makes you feel like you actually have a shot at being a paid developer Cons: * There were a few typos and some missing syntax in a few of the coding examples, but even with that being the case this book is still awesome Once I land a gig here in the next three months it'll be thanks to this book and this amazing author. Thanks =)

A good book for beginners
Format: Paperback
Well I spent about 3 hours reviewing this book last night and I actually think I understood most of it. I still have a long way to go. And I’m not ready to call myself a software engineer any time soon. I think I would need to take about 3 college courses in software engineering and this book would be the first textbook. I would recommend that the index be expanded. I would recommend a book on Python to go with this book.

Must have prior knowlege
Format: Paperback
After reading the reviews, it seemed like this was the perfect book to start learning about software engineering. Unfortunately, it is not. it assumes some program knowledge. I downloaded and installed Visual Studio Code, Ubuntu, and Docker Desktop. On page 22, it says to use the docker build command. I did, and I got a file or folder not found error. I've spent 4 hours searching the internet for an answer to this. I cant find it. This book is supposed to be written for absolute beginners. Apparently, it is not, as I, a beginner, am stuck 22 pages into it...
