從攝影到版畫🌅 為日常風景增添木刻的獨有紋理！

在「點止執印切釘——書的藝術」展覽中，藝術家劉家俊的作品《兩個故事》，透過木刻版畫將照片複製，並釘裝成書冊展出。你或許會好奇，從攝影圖像到木刻版畫，當中經歷了怎樣的轉化過程？

「減版套色：木刻版畫與攝影」工作坊將由劉家俊擔任導師，結合照片與木刻版畫，並運用 減版套色（Reduction Print）技法，親手雕刻木版，將照片的光影化為木刻版畫的點、線、面。

導師將介紹木刻特有的刀法和肌理，並透過數碼照片處理和圖像移印等核心技巧，引領大家將日常拍攝的照片，逐步轉譯為色彩層次豐富、具木刻獨特紋理的版畫作品！

▱ 學習減版套色版畫技法：了解「一版多色」的減版雕刻原理，掌握多層疊色木刻油印技法

▱ 掌握木刻版畫：學習木版預備、圖像移印、木刻特有的刀法和肌理，及油墨印製等核心技巧

▱ 影像分色與視覺轉換：藉由數碼影像編輯為攝影作品進行分色處理，將光影轉為色彩層次豐富與木刻肌理交織的視覺圖像

▱ 獨立版次管理與創作：獨立完成一幅套色木刻版畫，並理解版畫版次（Editions）的要求與專業簽名規範

⤵ 關於導師

劉家俊先後於香港中文大學藝術系修畢本科及藝術碩士課程。曾獲HKOP Fine Print Award、劉士銘藝術獎學金及WMA 畢業生獎等獎項，並入圍首屆香港黃永玉國際青年版畫藝術家扶持計劃。劉氏曾於國內外不同場地參與展覽，包括2023年在日本東京藝術大學展覽館、2024年在英國布里斯托皇家攝影學會和2025年於馬來西亞沙巴大學阿茲曼哈欣藝術館及淅江美術館。

他的藝術實踐專注於探索利用版畫製作及再現歷史相關影像的過程中 ，併合使用各種複製技術，包括印刷、製模、鑄模和攝影等，改變呈現圖像的視覺元素和載體，以物料的物理特性和文化內容影響圖像的意涵，從而擴闊觀看者對歷史的認知和詮釋。

From Photo to Print🌅Enriching Everyday Landscapes with the Unique Texture of Woodcut!

At the exhibition 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙊𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙮 – 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝘼𝙧𝙩, artist Jay Lau Ka-chun @jaylauka presents “Two Stories”, in which photographs are reproduced through woodcut printmaking and bound into book form for display. You may wonder how a photographic image is transformed along the way into a woodcut print.

The 𝙈𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞-𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙩: 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙘𝙪𝙩 & 𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙮 workshop, led by Jay Lau, brings together photography and woodblock printing through the reduction printing technique. Participants will carve their own woodblocks by hand, transforming the light and shadow of photographs into the dots, lines and planes of woodcut prints.

During the workshop, the instructor will introduce the distinctive carving techniques and textures of woodcut, while guiding participants through key processes such as digital image editing and image transfer. Step by step, everyday snapshots will be transformed into prints enriched with layered colour and the distinctive texture of woodcut!

Course Highlights  

▱ Learn reduction colour printmaking: understand the principle of “one block, multiple colours” through reduction carving, and master multi-layer colour overprinting techniques in woodcut printing

▱ Build woodblock printing skills: learn woodblock preparation, image transfer, the distinctive carving techniques and textures of woodcut, as well as essential skills in ink application and printing

▱ Colour separation and visual translation: use digital image editing to separate colours in photographic works, transforming light and shadow into visual images where rich colour layers intertwine with woodcut textures

▱ Edition management and creating prints: complete a multi-colour woodcut print independently, and understand the requirements for print editions and professional signature conventions

 ⤵ About the Instructor

Lau Ka-chun graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Department of Fine Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts. He has received a number of awards, including the HKOP Fine Print Award, the Liu Shiming Art Foundation Scholarship, and the Hong Kong Art School’s WMA Graduate Award. He was also a finalist for the inaugural Hong Kong Huang Yongyu International Youth Printmaking Artists Support Programme.

Lau’s work has been exhibited internationally at prestigious venues, including The University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts (2023), the Royal Photographic Society, Bristol, UK (2024), the Azman Hashim UMS Gallery at University Malaysia Sabah and the Zhejiang Art Museum (2025). His artistic practice focuses on the production and reproduction of history-related imagery through printmaking. Manipulating the visual and physical elements of images through reproduction techniques such as printing, moulding, casting and photography, Lau explores how the physical properties and cultural contexts of materials reshape the meaning of an image and broaden the viewer’s perception and interpretation of history.
