In the afterglow of rave's white heat, the mid-'90s were a period of going as far out in all directions as possible; Luke Slater's The 7th Plain tracks were about exploration of the deep space of the imagination. Cosmic, analog, orchestrated, they still represent some of the most emotionally intense music ever to come out of the techno realm. Whether built on percussive frameworks or sweeping nebulas of dissipated sound, Slater's synthesizers still sing space-travelers' tales compellingly and beautifully. For this reason A-TON launched back in 2016 with The 7th Plain's Chronicles I (ATON 001CD/LP), establishing itself as a platform for archive, ambient and art-related releases. Now, with the release of Chronicles II and Chronicles III, the journey continues further into outer and inner space. Chronicles III is made up solely of music from the General Production Recordings label catalog and stylistically skews less toward percussive techno-funk and more toward free-form broken rhythms; though tracks such as "Lost", "Time Melts" or "Millentum" stand strong as hybrid pillars of both. Luke Slater pioneered the UK's electronic landscape as Translucent, 4 Slots For Bill, Planetary Assault Systems, The 7th Plain, Clementine, and later as L.B. Dub Corp, by partly focusing on, partly bypassing the traditional, puristic values of techno. Together with Dave Sumner (Function) and Steve Bicknell he also operates as LSD. Chronicles is a three-part series of Slater's The 7th Plain project, including both previously released and unreleased material. All music is available for the first time on CD. Ultimately, when listening to all three parts of Chronicles, it's apparent that 7th Plain's music is cut from the same emotional cloth, one related strongly to the backroom, the chillout, the after-party, the solo headphone voyage. These weren't and never should be considered separate zones from the dance floor. In other words, as Slater puts it, in the mid-'90s, they were "part of the night, part of the experience, where ideas could be shared." And like Global Communication, Mira Calix, The Future Sound of London, and the Artificial Intelligence generation, Slater's 7th Plain was a response to those hallucinatory, spiritual, but still social spaces at the heart of underground communities; and the magic is still strong in it.

A Small Luxury That Makes a Big Difference

I absolutely love these salt and pepper grinders.
They’re sleek, modern, attractive on the table, and honestly much nicer looking than I expected for the price. They even come with their own little caddy, which keeps everything neat and organized and looks great when guests are over.
What I love most is how easy they are to use. You simply press a button and instantly get perfectly ground salt or pepper. No twisting, no awkward grinding with two hands, no effort at all.
I especially love this for pepper because I use a lot of it when cooking things like soups, lentils, and large meals. Before, hand grinding would make my arm tired, and sometimes I’d end up with uneven chunks of pepper. With these, the grind is smooth, even, and consistent every time. You just hold the button and move it around — quick, simple, and efficient.
They also hold a generous amount of salt and pepper, so you’re not constantly refilling them every few days.
Honestly, they make cooking easier, they look beautiful on the table, and they feel much more expensive than they are.
Excellent purchase and a fantastic gift idea.

Great idea, great product

I’ve been using this electric salt and pepper grinder set for a few weeks now and it’s one of those kitchen upgrades you don’t realize you needed until you have it.
the top refill design makes it quick and easy to fill with course salt or peppercorns. It holds a good amount so youre not constantly refilling it
I really appreciate that these grinders are rechargeable, and therefore a little more eco friendly. The battery life has been solid so far, and I haven’t had to worry about it dying mid-meal.
Using it is super simple, It’s truly one-hand, one-button operation, which makes a big difference when you’re cooking. You can grind seasoning while stirring or holding a pan with your other hand. There’s also an LED light that turns on while grinding, so you can actually see how much seasoning you’re adding—small detail, but surprisingly helpful.
There’s a small dial underneath that adjusts the grind size from course to fine. and the salt and pepper come out in a really uniform, consistent grind.
Overall, the pros—easy refilling, rechargeable design, adjustable grind size, uniform results, —definitely outweigh the cons. It’s a practical, stylish upgrade that makes everyday cooking feel just a little easier and more polished.

Great Quality, Easy to Use, and Looks Sharp on the Counter

I’ve been using this electronic salt and pepper grinder set for a bit now, and I’m honestly really impressed.
First off, the one-handed operation is a game changer. Just press the button and you’re good to go—super convenient when you’re cooking and juggling multiple things. The grind is consistent, and the adjustable coarseness actually works well (not just a gimmick like some others I’ve tried).
The build quality feels solid, and I like the clear chamber so you can easily see when you’re running low. The LED light is a nice touch too—it’s subtle but helpful, especially when cooking in lower lighting.

A very good option if manual grinders are problematic

These work well, though I haven’t had them long enough to vouch for charge duration.
They are well thought out devices, with an actual light shining from the bottom to help gauge the amount of salt and pepper, even in lo light. :D
I haven’t not altered the grind size, so I can’t speak to that either. Grind speed is as good as many hand grinders, so it’s a delight specifically when grinding a lot (salt for Margarita glass edges!).
The price was good, and meets my expectations.
