The ITC is a helping model based in science and compassion, built for understanding and responding to peopleÑwhether they be loved ones or clientsÑwho are struggling with substance use and change. The strategies presented in the ITC have been shown to dramatically improve communication, increase emotional resilience and willingness to change, and promote self-compassion and understanding for all involved.
The creators of the ITC and the Short Guide know that you may have already tried many things to help your loved one (or client), and that you may feel powerless when it comes to your child, partner, or friend and their substance use. There is no quick fix or easy answer to the problemÑbut by building your helping toolkit through new Understanding, Awareness, and Action, the ITC brings you a step forward: toward empathy, connection, caring for yourself and your loved one, and making progress.
The Invitation to Change: A Short Guide is an offering from CMC:Foundation for Change, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting the families and loved ones of people who struggle with substance use. All profits from the sale of this workbook will help us provide free and low-cost resources to communities who need them.
