This hand-forged Damascus steel folding knife is built for everyday carry, outdoor use, and serious collectors who value durability and traditional craftsmanship. Each blade is forged from layered Damascus steel, creating a natural flowing pattern that makes every knife one of a kind.

Pick up this Damascus steel folding knife and the weight settles into your palm right away. The layered blade shows a water-flow pattern that no two pieces share, and the Pakka wood handle sits warm and solid against your fingers. Open the blade once and the back lock clicks firm. You know immediately this is not a catalog knife.

The Blade

The blade is hand-forged from Damascus steel. Forging means a smith folds and welds layers of steel under a hammer, not a machine press. That process drives carbon through the steel in alternating bands. It creates the swirling water pattern on the blade surface and builds an edge structure that holds a working sharpness longer than most single-stock blades. The edge ships ready to cut. Run it lightly across your thumbnail and you feel the bite at the first angle.

The Handle

The handle is Pakka wood, a stabilized composite that will not swell, crack, or warp from moisture the way raw hardwood can. Steel pins run through the full grip length, locking the scales tight against the bolster. A solid steel bolster adds weight at the pivot and keeps the knife balanced forward of the fingers. The grip fits a bare hand or a gloved hand without shifting. Four handle color options are available: White, Blue, Green, and Brown.

The Build

The back-lock mechanism is the right choice for a 3-inch folding blade. It locks open with an audible click, and the spine-mounted release sits exactly where your thumb finds it naturally. At 6.5 inches overall, this knife closes to a length that fits a pocket without printing through light fabric. The blade-to-handle balance keeps the tip controlled on detail cuts.

The Sheath

A hand-stitched genuine leather sheath comes with every knife. The brown leather carries the embossed JW SteelCrafts mark and closes with a snap button. It protects the blade during storage and carry. Slide it onto a belt or drop it into a bag pocket.

Real-World Use

This knife cuts best at controlled, single-direction tasks: opening packages, cleaning camp fish, trimming cordage, and light trail work. The 3-inch blade is short enough for legal carry in most jurisdictions and long enough for most field tasks. The daily carry user who needs one reliable folder every morning. The camper who wants a blade that opens clean and locks positive. The collector who displays knives that can still cut. Hand-forging leaves a micro-structured edge that bites longer than a machine-ground blade of the same profile.

The JW Difference

Every knife in this line is hand-forged individually. No two Damascus patterns come out alike. JW SteelCrafts has earned 7 verified five-star buyer reviews on this knife. Orders ship within 1 to 2 business days from the USA. Free shipping applies on all orders over $100.

Who Is This For

  • The daily carry user who needs a compact, lockable blade for routine cutting tasks at work or on the trail.
  • The camper or hiker who wants a reliable backup blade that handles fish, food prep, and cordage in the field.
  • The hunter who needs a short, sharp blade to clean birds or do light field work without bulk in a vest pocket.
  • The collector who wants a Damascus folder that earns a spot on the display rack and still holds a working edge.

How to Use It

Hold the handle with your thumb resting near the spine. Open the blade with your opposite hand until the back lock engages with a click. Use a straight push-cut for rope and cordage. Use a light draw-cut for food prep and camp tasks. Always close the blade fully before placing the knife in its sheath.

How to Care for It

After Every Use

  • Hand wash the blade with warm water and mild soap.

  • Dry the blade and handle immediately with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Do not put this knife in a dishwasher. Heat and detergent will damage the Damascus pattern and the Pakka wood.

Every Few Weeks

  • Apply a thin, even coat of food-safe mineral oil to the blade.

  • Wipe off any excess oil with a dry cloth before storing.

Storage

  • Keep the knife in the leather sheath when not in active use.

  • Store in a dry location away from humidity and direct heat sources.

Sharpening

  • Use a whetstone or fine ceramic rod to sharpen the edge.

  • Match the original bevel angle and work edge-leading in one direction.

  • Strop on leather after sharpening to realign the micro-teeth on the edge.

FAQs

What type of steel is the blade made from?

The blade is hand-forged Damascus steel. Damascus is made by folding and welding multiple layers of steel under a hammer. The process produces a layered structure with a distinct water-flow surface pattern unique to every blade.

Is this knife suitable for everyday carry?

Yes. The 3-inch blade and back-lock mechanism make it a reliable, compact EDC option. The closed overall length fits in a pocket without bulk, and the back lock keeps the blade secure during carry.

Does the knife come with a sheath?

Yes. Every knife ships with a hand-stitched genuine leather sheath at no extra cost.

Is this knife legal to carry in the US?

Folding knives with blades under 3 inches are permitted for carry in most US states, but laws vary by state, county, city, and country. Always check your local knife laws before carrying any blade in public.

How do I sharpen a Damascus steel folding knife?

Use a whetstone or a fine ceramic rod. Hold the original bevel angle and work in one direction, edge-leading. Finish with a few passes on a leather strop to realign the edge.

Can I choose my handle color?

Yes. Four Pakka wood handle colors are available at checkout: White, Blue, Green, and Brown. The blade material is the same across all four options.

How long will this knife last?

Damascus steel is a durable hand-forged material. With regular hand washing, immediate drying, and periodic oiling, the blade will hold its edge and retain its pattern for years of regular use.

Is this a good gift?

Yes. The Damascus pattern, Pakka wood handle, and included leather sheath give this knife strong visual impact straight out of the box. It suits collectors, outdoor users, hunters, and anyone who values handmade tools.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5
