The probe detects the generated tone so that the cable can be located and has an adjustable-volume speaker that amplifies the tone for tracing. The 3.5 mm jack allows for headphones (sold separately) to be attached, muting the speaker for discrete toning or toning in noisy environments. The replaceable, non-metallic durable tip on the probe enables testing in distribution blocks without disturbing other services.
