As recently as 1874, no laws yet existed in this country for the protection of children. In New York of the same year, it was the widely publicized case of Mary Ellen Wilson-a nine-year-old girl who had been a prisoner in her tenement home, enduring unimaginable cruelty-that was the first to draw national and worldwide attention to both the social issue of child abuse and to the notion that children are entitled to humane treatment. American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) founder Henry Bergh and his attorney, Elbridge T. Gerry, intervened on behalf of the abused little girl. Following this case, the first child protection agency was founded: the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. This examination of the child abuse case begins with a look at Mary Ellen Wilson's life and provides background on the events surrounding the case. It draws upon-and reproduces within the text-numerous primary sources. Mary Ellen's famous court testimony, queries urging Henry Bergh's ASPCA to continue work on behalf of children, articles describing the courtroom scene, pleas from Mary Ellen's family appealing for her custody and published documentation of the trial itself are all offered here for the first time. The extensive amounts of newspaper coverage, family letters, judicial orders and court transcripts presented in this work chronicle the historical case and its effects which have since provided hope for millions of abused and neglected children. The authors also wrote a novelized version of the story entitled "Out of the Darkness: The Story of Mary Ellen Wilson." (Dolphin Moon, 1999)Binding Type: Paperback

I started seeing results after one and a half week!
A week and a half after starting this product, together with the serum, I started noticing a brighter and more even tone on my skin. And my sun spots started to fade. It worked for me... and really fast! To give you an idea of how uneven my skin was... when going out, my husband used to tell me to put on some face powder to even out the tone of my skin. Not anymore. I felt it was really gentle, and I have a very sensitive/rosacea prone skin. I combine both the night cream and the serum with my Vanicream skincare regime. I later added a niacinamide serum (I got that tip from Dr. Dray on Youtube) to boost the efficiency of the whole treatment. Be careful with the niacinamide though... some people cannot tolerate it. I think I could tolerate it because I already had my skin repaired with my Vanicream skincare regime. In conclusion, this product is worth every penny!

Great product, it works!
This moisturizer has help me a lot with my sunspots, I see the difference big time. I’m in my 3 bottle I think, and I also use their serum and night cream along with the face soap. Love this line of products and I’m coming from using Lancôme for years (my fave brand in so many products). I’d definitely recommend. I don’t find the creams smelling weird or with a sense at all (like some other people have said) and I have a K9 nose.

Simple but effective
I do like Eucerin products and this night cream is predictably smooth. I haven't noticed any miraculous change in my dark spots but I'm more interested in just keeping my skin soft. A little goes A LONG way so this bottle will last quite a while.

Great sunscreen, easy to use and absorbs well
I would recommend this product because it's super easy to apply and doesn't leave a greasy feeling. The SPF 50 gives good sun protection, and it feels lightweight on my face. Plus, it's hydrating thanks to the hyaluronic acid. Definitely a good choice for daily use, and I like that it doesn't clog pores.
