George Bernard Shaw (1856Ð1950) was an Irish playwright, critic and polemicist whose influence on Western theatre, culture and politics extended from the 1880s to his death and beyond. His best-known works include ÒMan and Superman,Ó ÒPygmalion,Ó ÒSaint Joan.Ó He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925. In his will, Shaw left money for the development of a phonetic alphabet for English, now known as the Shaw alphabet or Shavian. He directed that his play ÒAndrocles and the LionÓ be published in the new alphabet. ÒAndrocles and the LionÓ is an adaptation of the story, sometimes attributed to Aesop, of a runaway slave saved from death by a lion from whose paw he had extracted a thorn. Shaw resets the play, making it a meditation on Christianity and the difference between early Christians and their Roman persecutors. We include here the preface, ÒOn the Prospects of Christianity.Ó This book is in the Deseret Alphabet, a phonetic alphabet for writing English developed in the mid-19th century at the University of Deseret (now the University of Utah).

Great, Awesome, and Entertaining
Format: Paperback
My son loves this graphic novel! We preordered, it just arrived and we are already a little over halfway thru. My son is still a toddler so I have to read it to him. I'm enjoying it just as much as he is. The story is actually broken up into two smaller books. There's no other chapters but plenty of "natural pauses" to indicate a change in scene. The story so far is great. Very entertaining with some nice humor mixed in. Love the artwork style as well. You won't be disappointed with purchasing this.

Kids loved both books
Format: Paperback
Both my children (8 &10) loved this series. And because it wasn’t clear to us at first, the blue book is the 1st in the series. The red one is the 2nd.
