Swell is a sculptural textile work that captures the rhythm, movement, and quiet power of the ocean. Constructed from layered strips of rich navy velvet, the piece transforms soft fabric into a dynamic landscape of rolling waves. The deep tonal variations created by the velvet’s changing nap mimic the shifting light across water, allowing the surface to appear in constant motion as the viewer moves around it.

Contained within a circular frame, the composition evokes both a porthole and a horizon, inviting the viewer to look into a moment suspended between calm and momentum. The repeated fabric bands create a sense of flow and continuity, while the sculptural relief gives the work depth and dimension beyond the traditional flat textile form.
