After S3A's Deep Love 2018 contribution (DIRT 113LP), Dirt Crew present you this great collection of music. Coming from the French underground S3A, aka Max Fader, is absolutely no stranger to the scene. He is deeply rooted in house, hip hop, disco, soul, and funk serving residencies at Paris clubs Concrete and REX; he has become a local favorite as well with his DJ and live sets. Dirt Crew release this special debut album which showcases some older and recent work, with live acoustic songs from early 2017 recorded at the Paris "Red Bull Music" studios to new sample-based house and disco infused tracks in the signature "S3A" style. "Fever", "Friends", "Joint No. 5", and "Greed" are all funk-fueled jams composed by Max, re-played and recorded again in several live jams with fellow musicians Nicolas Taite, Raphael Vallade, and Pierre Vadon then edited in the studio by S3A afterwards, they breath this special soul and funk love Max got into by listening to Masters At Work and old disco jams. The latter "Greed" has a special story, it is a cover of an early Laurent Garnier track that got reworked by Avril in the early '00s, here Max wanted to present his own jazz and funk perspective on that same track. The club stompers "First Day With Lucien", "Lockwood", "Clarence J. Boddicker", and "Leaving 19th" are the true party business on this album and range from deep house to more classic edit style disco tracks with live improvisations played on top of them. "Interlude For Marc", "Obsession", and "Eaux Troubles" introduce a third vision of S3A's musical universe. Cinematic, emotional and with a much more old school "trip hop" approach to them, in some parts even referring to '80s Italo/cosmic and early French funk. Max also added a very personal "Intro" and "Outro" to the vinyl version that consists of field recordings from his trips abroad and kids Eva and Bastien accompanied by Rhodes and strings recorded during the abovementioned live sessions.

Still 4 stars
Format: Kindle
A little to much before and to much dive into the days, months before, but I still kept reading. Maybe because of that you could read about them all. I just couldn't put this book in my to read another day list. I just wanted to know what happens to them.

Promising but not without issues

First off, the FMC and the pack don't meet until about 60% of the way through.
That's just way too late honestly. I can appreciate the backstory of the band and the FMC, but I skimmed at times wondering when they'd meet.
I did like the writing and premise but I thought the execution needed a lot of work.
The characters were pretty well developed, but they didn't spend that much time on the page together, so I thought that led to the story suffering.
I will give her another shot, as I think the writing has promise... It just didn't come all together in a way that I could wholeheartedly recommend.

I really tried to finish this book. There was too much detail in more than half the book. They do not even meet for. Ore than half the book. If you are looking for spice, this is not the book for you. This is more a late teen if that. I stopped reading when she made her choice of men for her first time. There isn’t any urge to read the next chapter. Easy to put down.

Wonderful
Format: Kindle
What a wonderful long read, with depth, emotions, storyline and a touch of $mut. This story was definitely more centered around the storyline rather than any $ex scenes and lived up to “Cozy Omegaverse”. We saw the pack dynamic’s evolve as she was ready for them to evolve, they were patient with her and allowed her to break free from her own constraints.
