This is the first translation of Adelardo Sanz's "Esgrima del Sable y Consideraciones Sobre El Duelo," published in Madrid, in 1886. Sanz is considered by many as the father of the Modern Spanish School of Fencing. He is most known for patenting a special type of foil grip and for having taken the best of the French and Italian schools to create his own. In this work, we have a complete saber system with five parries and a very straight forward approach to explaining all the actions leading us up to the assault and then the duel. More than any other book of its kind, yet to be translated, this one has the most practical advice for fighting with sharp sabers in a serious encounter.
