Samba Tour+-'s previous album Albala (GB 004 CD/LP) was recorded during the fear-laden atmosphere of 2012, when northern Mali (including his ancestral village of Dire) had succumbed to sharia law and radical Islamist control and Bamako, his adopted home, still reeled in the chaos of the recent military coup. Albala received widespread acclaim and was rightfully recognized not only as the best album of Samba's career but also as an undeniable musical statement about the human toll of war and political crisis. Samba had spent years honing his artistry (including stints playing with Malian blues master Ali Farka Toure and Kora genius Toumani Diabate) and Albala signposted a mature artist, full of sonic imagination and narrative fire. Gandadiko, the title of Samba's potent, diverse and ambitious new album, translates from his native language Songhai as: "Land of Drought" or "Burning Land." the title seems to indicate a return to the dark textures that marked Albala but in fact Gandadiko is a more complex story than that. Toure is known to search for the seeds of his musical ideas in the assorted stack of CDs he listens to while driving through the chaotic streets of Bamako. The out-of-the-box musical inspirations he has picked up for his new album range from Serge Gainsbourg to Bo Diddley via Tom Petty to funky psychedelia, though of course, all the raw material is instinctually filtered through the traditional melodies and rhythms of his Songhai musical heritage. The songs on Gandadiko are in fact framed by a restless eclecticism. Samba's guitar playing has never been so anxious, exploratory and rock and roll and his voice has never been as smooth and relaxed.

Great set of pillows!!!

I ordered this set of two down alternative pillows to replace some older pillows, and I’m honestly really impressed with the quality.
Right out of the package, the pillows fluffed up nicely and felt soft yet supportive. They have that plush feel you want without being too flat or too firm, which makes them comfortable in multiple sleeping positions.
I’ve been sleeping on these for a bit now and they’ve held their shape well throughout the night. They provide good neck support while still feeling cozy, and I don’t wake up with soreness or stiffness.
What I like most is how breathable they feel compared to some other pillows I’ve tried. They stay comfortable without overheating, and the down alternative fill makes them a great option for anyone with allergies.
Overall, this set is an excellent value for the price. If you’re looking for soft, supportive pillows that feel comfortable and well made, I would definitely recommend these.

Great, soft, high-quality pillows, but too thick for me

This will be a brief review of my pillow journey. I tried a few of the most popular pillows, like MyPillow, Amazon Basics, bamboo/shredded foam, memory pillows, but my most common complaint about them were that they were all just too high and firm for me. I am a restless sleeper and alternate between back, side, and stomach sleeping, and I strongly preferred the stomach sleeper/flat pillows with a polyester fiber/down alternative filling.
Here's a ranking of my 4 top pillows:
Eversnug Adjustable Layer Pillows - (#1)
These were THE pillow for me. I had never heard of these pillows or the company, but I really like being able to adjust my pillow. These pillows came with 2 small, 2 medium, and 2 large pillows and 2 twin zippable pillow pouches. All of them were polyester fiber filled and somewhat flat and soft, but not lumpy. The pillows may not come the exact same sizes, but they are close enough for me. These are the pillows I ultimately decided to stick with, despite being slightly more expensive than the others at $50 for a set of 2 pillows.
Nappler Bamboo Shredded Memory Foam Pillow - (#2)
Before I found the Eversnug pillows, I was trying the adjustable bamboo shredded memory foam ones. These were my go-to whenever I was testing pillows I didn't like very much. The only downside to these pillows is that if you don't add enough filling, you could feel the edges of the shredded foam. Also, the "bamboo" cover was way too warm and the inner zipper would get too easily caught.
Amazon Basics Down Alternative Pillow - (#3)
I don't think I've ever been disappointed by an Amazon Basics product yet. These pillows were soft, amazing pillows, but they were 1-2 inches too thick/firm for me.
MyPillow - (#4)
Despite all the hype around these, they were too lumpy and 1 inch too thick for me.
Like I said previously, I ended up going with the Eversnug Adjustable pillows, which I absolutely adore. A tiny bonus is that you can take the pillows you don't use and rest them on your sides or between your knees for some extra cushioning.
