The REDARC BCDC1240D is a 12V, 40A In-vehicle DC to DC Battery Charger designed to keep your auxiliary battery charged when driving or with portable solar panels when parked.

 


OVERVIEW


The REDARC BCDC1240D under bonnet Battery Charger is a 12V 40A DC to DC battery charger, capable of high performance in engine bay installations, potted to survive and thrive against heat, water and dust.


Featuring a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) solar regulator, the BCDC1240D Classic will charge from both solar and the alternator simultaneously. With built-in 'Green Power Priority' it will select solar charging first, meaning less load on the alternator.


Suitable for 12 or 24-volt vehicle systems, the unit will also work with either standard or variable/smart alternators.


The BCDC1240D also comes with patented charging profiles, including a lithium charging profile perfect for pairing with a REDARC Lithium Battery. The 'Dual' input range will continue to charge all other types of batteries including AGM, GEL, standard lead acid and calcium. 


As a guide the BCDC1240D is typically used for lead acid battery banks over 200Ah and lithium batteries over 100Ah. Check the manufacturer’s data for your battery and ensure that the ‘Continuous Current Rating’ of the charger does not exceed the manufacturer’s recommended maximum charging current. For smaller batteries, REDARC recommends the BCDC1225D.

Built in Australia and tested for our unique conditions, the DC to DC battery charger will work in the extreme heat of the Simpson Desert, up to 80°C and can handle deep water crossings at Cape York – water, dust and vibration are no match for this charger.

These ill-intentioned manipulators understand the human brain is hard-wired for certain reactions: to believe in conspiracy theories (“Obama isn’t an American”); to be gratified when we receive approval (“likes”!); to be drawn to views we agree with (“confirmation bias”). If we feel compelled to weigh in on some bit of propaganda or false information, social media algorithms see this attention and elevate the issue—“trending!”—so that our complaints only add to the virality of disinformation and lies. “Just as the internet has reshaped war, war is now radically reshaping the internet,” the authors say. Out of Control with Technology

I found the book very interesting! The authors did a great job of discussing the benefits of different social media sites. While the sites were intended for good use, there is always a downside. Each of the sites were exploited over time for a use other than intended. While this is by no means a surprise, it is amazing how others were quick to use the sites for illegal purposes. The history of how some of the sites were developed was interesting too. Of additional interest was the amount of notes included in the book. A third of the book is devoted to this alone. It shows the level of thoroughness the authors took to allow readers to delve deeper into topics discussed in each chapter. The most pressing question for social media: What is the next level of advancement?
