The Sony a7R IVA continues the noteworthy series of highly capable full-frame cameras, characterized by impressive stills and video performance and versatility. This fourth edition of the a7R sees the inclusion of an updated 61MP sensor along with faster processing, improved AF performance, and a more well-rounded feature-set for both high-end photo and video applications. The sensor's structure promotes impressive image quality and a copper wiring layer dramatically improves data transmission speed for creating 14-bit, high-resolution 61MP stills with a native sensitivity range from ISO 100-32000, which can be further expanded to ISO 50-102400. The quick processing also helps to reduce rolling shutter and other motion distortions for the clean rendering of moving subjects. This unique compositing mode allows you to achieve even greater resolution than the 61MP sensor affords. Working in conjunction with the sensor-shift image stabilization, this mode shifts the sensor while making 16 consecutive exposures in order to acquire approximately 240.8MP of information for greater color accuracy and detail than possible with a single exposure, along with an impressive image size of 19,008 x 12,672-pixels. This focusing system also achieves especially quick speed and reliable tracking, as well as enhanced low-light focusing response down to -3 EV.

Expand Flexible Spot employs neighboring focus points to retain focus on moving subjects even if the originally selected point loses focus. The Focus Magnifier function can be used for critical focus when homing in on minute subject details. Oversampled 4K recording is also possible, which uses a 6K capture area with a Super 35 crop for greater detail. This full pixel readout is void of pixel binning for higher quality imagery with reduced moiré and aliasing. In addition to high-resolution internal recording, uncompressed HDMI output also enables the use of an optional external recorder for clean 4K recording with 4:2:2 sampling.

A dedicated High-quality setting enables a 120 fps refresh rate for especially smooth playback of moving subjects. Extensive weather sealing, including enhanced sealing around the battery cover, terminal cover, and chassis joints, has been employed to resist dust and moisture for reliable operation in harsh weather conditions. Both 3.5mm headphone and external microphone ports facilitate greater control over audio recording.

    Format: Kindle
A good book but the code in the Kindle edition is very badly formatted. The downloaded source code seems correct. Update formatting issue seems to have been fixed.

Good for basic x86 64 but avx coverage is horrible.
    Format: Paperback
After having read Irvine 7th I had a good knowledge of x32 but soon enough I realized it’s all obsolete so now it’s on to Hyde 64. The hello world program involves interfacing to c++ and assembly/linking with batch commands. Really? I’m using visual studio ide have you heard of build and run? Hyde doesn’t even mention the debugger and without this tool assembly language is impossible. But I was already familiar with this after reading Irvine so I was ok. The following chapters 2 to 9 about 600 pages worth are great so for what I paid the book is 4 stars. Great explanation, lots of complete programs. Now it’s time for parallel processing via Simd and avx and this is chapter 11, over 100 pages of instructions with no examples. It could be useful for reference but actually, no. Amidst all the formats, memory operand and register sizes the actual explanations of the instructions are vague. Well that defeats the purpose of thumbing this chapter as a reference doesn’t it? But where Hyde fails Kusswurm modern x86 begins. If you’ve made it this far sell Hyde, Irvine, and buy Kusswurm. Then you’ll have Jedi powers like me.

It benefits the high-level language programmers - Listing formatting good now
    Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Even if not writing assembly code directly, it benefits the high-level language programmer to understand the CPU architecture and instruction set. You can help the compiler do a better job by writing your code with the hardware in mind. When it comes to debugging, it can be helpful to look at things at the assembly level. And if you are programming with SIMD intrinsics, you are still programming in assembly language and understanding the architecture is necessary. This book gets you up to speed with all the above and more. Also, the listing formatting problem that others have mentioned seems to have been fixed. I deleted the months old download from my device, downloaded again, and the listing were now good. Tested on an iPad, a Kindle Paperwhite, and a MacBook Pro.
