UV-C radiation is not found naturally on Earth; it originates solely from space. Consequently, no organisms have adapted to withstand this intense radiation throughout evolution, including pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and the reproductive stages of filamentous algae. This is where the UV-C system excels, enhancing the health and well-being of aquarium inhabitants when integrated into filtration systems. It effectively combats bacterial water turbidity and green water in ponds. Inside these systems, water is exposed to UV-C radiation for a brief duration. Each unit features a UV-C emitting lamp encased in a high-quality silica glass tube, which the water circulates around. The water is drawn in through a hose connector and exits via another connector on the opposite side. The variable adapter accommodates hoses of varying diameters. Changing the highly efficient PL UV-C lamp is straightforward. The end pieces with hose connectors can rotate, ensuring the shortest possible hose connection. These systems come in various capacities to meet your specific requirements (see overview). They connect to a compatible, powerful pump via a hose. Sera UV-C System 24W (UV-C Cleaner): effectively removes all types of floating algae (turbidity, green water) without chemicals, inhibits the reproduction of filamentous and other algae, and reduces the incidence of diseases and bacterial turbidity in water. This powerful yet energy-efficient UV-C cleaner features universal connections suitable for different filters and pumps. It allows for the inflow and outflow of irradiated water and the connection of hoses using variable connections. Included in the kit: 2 pieces of direct variable connections: ф 20 / 25 / 32 / 40 mm (¾” / 1” / 1¼“/ 1½”). The 24 W and 55 W UV-C systems come with a 10-meter cable. Recommended flow rates: in aquariums, 1000 – 2000 litres/hour; in ponds, 2000 – 4000 litres/hour. Please note that the UV-C system cannot operate without a pump. The inhabitants of the aquarium and the nitrifying bacteria in the filter are not harmed by UV radiation. It's essential to select a suitable pump for the recommended flow rates.
