Raw and wild soul-funk-R&B-garage; from 1970, recorded and released only in Algeria. Imagine James Brown fronting The Sonics. Born in Puerto Rico, Bob Destiny grew up in Harlem (USA) and has a fascinating story: from starting playing piano as a child (self-taught) and tap dancing with the Five Chocolate Drops when he was six years old, to meeting Billie Holliday and playing with her; from appearing in a film with Shirley Temple to musicals in Broadway, dancing in Mankiewicz's movie Cleopatra (1963), singing at the San Remo Festival... In 1969, Bob went to Algeria to teach music at the Algerian National Theater. He also continued with his singing career while living there. In 1970, he released a couple of 45s featuring "Wang Dang" and "Mahna (Troubles)" on the Freedom Musique label. He was also involved with the creation of the first Pan African Festival with Mahboud Bati and Frank Pourcel. These 45s are very rare and were first discovered by the great Habibi Funk label a few years ago, who included "Wang Dang" on one of their compilations. For this Pharaway Sounds 45, the label has selected one track from his first 45 and another from his second one, After playing in Morocco with Hahmed Maraki and forming bands like The Fingers, Bob arrived to Spain in the '80s. He created a jazz school in Zaragoza and was involved with the famous "Jazz en la Margen" festival. In the '90s, Bob moved to France, focusing in composition, gospel, musicals, and soundtracks. Sadly, he passed away on March 31, 2016. File under: soul, funk, garage. Insert with liner notes and photos.

Great Beard Balm
Scent: Sandalwood, Size: 2 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I was a little unsure when I opened the canister - I’m used to beard balms being more like lotion. This is solid in the can. However, one scoop with my finger - then rub with my fingers together and apply to my beard (I immediately message into my hair on my head after my beard). Keeps hair soft, conditioned, and just a bit of hold. The Sandlewood scent is just the right amount! Works great and easy to message into my beard.

Good Smell, Tough Texture
Scent: Sandalwood, Size: 2 Ounce (Pack of 1)
The scent is actually pretty good. The sandalwood smells natural and clean, not overly strong or chemical-like. It has a nice masculine smell that most guys will probably like.
My biggest issue is the texture. The balm is pretty hard in the container, and it’s actually difficult to dig your finger in to get some out. I expected it to be a little softer and easier to work with. Once you warm it up in your hands it melts down okay, but getting it out of the tin takes more effort than it should.
As far as performance, it does help tame the beard a bit and adds some light conditioning, but the hold isn’t very strong. If you have a thicker or more stubborn beard, you may find it doesn’t control it as much as you’d like.
Overall, the scent is good and the quality seems decent, but the hardness of the balm and average hold make it just an okay product for me. That’s why I landed at three stars.

Scent is not overpowering
Scent: Vanilla, Size: 2 Ounce (Pack of 1)
The vanilla scent is not overpowering. I smell it when I first use it in the morning but not all day long. The balm is good and keeps my beard looking good all day.
