Crom the Barbarian was originally created in 1950 by Gardner F Fox and John Giunta in 1950 for Avon Publishing. This is recognized as the first sword and sorcery comic book. It is heavily influenced by Robert E Howard's Conan the Cimmerian. Fox and Giunta used the opposite approach to creating Crom. The blonde hair is the most obvious.
Kurt Brugel continues Crom's adventures by visiting the time before he strikes out on his own with his sword Skull-Biter.
