2017 release. Ask any New Yorker what makes them special and they'll all tell you something different. But there's something very particular about a city so condensed with a vast range of humanity all facing myriad daily challenges that gives it's rock music a brash, direct aggression unlike other places. Case in point, NYC trio Blackout's take on doom and stoner rock is filled with a gritty, mechanistic heft unlike bands of their ilk from anywhere else. Subsumed within the greasy grooves of The Horse there are echoes of NYC heavy legends like Helmet, Cro-Mags, Judge, Prong and others - not as intentional homage, but rather a vibe that permeates and inadvertently gives it's bands a unique power that few can match. After a brief hiatus between the March 2015 release of their self-titled sophomore album on RidingEasy Records, Blackout has regrouped and (ahem) gotten back on The Horse for an eight-song blast of riffs that does not fuck around. On one fateful day in July 2016, with a handful of mushrooms and a bottle of tequila, vocalist/guitarist Christian Gordy set out to write an entire new Blackout record. Following the departure of original drummer Taryn Waldman earlier that year, the band's fate was uncertain. But, Gordy's writing forray resulted in a wellspring of inspiration and by happenstance he contacted drummer Adam Taylor who had just parted with his band Ghost Punch. Within two months of banging out riffs with bassist Justin Sherrell, Blackout was back in action. The Horse was recorded over four days in September 2016 at Spaceman Sound in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood, which the band describes as "a whirlwind session laced with loads of buds, Petey's burgers and lipstick." Or, described by blackout themselves: "What you have before you now is a messy plate of meat, slathered in weird sauces. A haunted steak from from Centaurus A to sink your tingling fangs into. Sit back, crack a semi cold one, maybe get some snacks... and turn this motherfucker up to 8."

It really is water resistant
Size: 6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This stuff is great. Normally when buying a green sunscreen, I have to sacrifice the aerosol feature and default to a lotion. This has a very neutral scent and sprays easily and evenly. It is zinc-based, so it will leave a white haze on your skin. I did need to rub it in after spraying, which helped minimize the white hue. It does love bathing suits, so be prepared to also rub the zinc powder into your bathing suit, otherwise it will be spray painted white. I used this while tubing and did not get burned--just nice and toasty-tan. The biggest downside is that it has a very slight stickiness/tackiness to it. I showered twice before I finally felt like it was all off my skin. But at least it didn't come off in the river!

Leaves skin WHITE and chalky!
Size: 6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This sunscreen is the worst. it leaves your skin feeling chalky, and totally white. it is difficult to get it off. I accidentally bought it twice two years apart thinking it was the one I liked, but nope. floated the river and even trying to rub it off in the water wouldn't remove the white cast on my skin all day. If you don't mind chalky skin and looking white, then go for it.

Great convenient nontoxic spray sunblock option that really works!
Size: 6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I am very serious about nontoxic products for my family, particularly for my young children. I also insist on sunscreen almost every day. The unfortunate thing is that I really dislike actually applying sunscreen! lol! I don't mind on normal mornings (and we usually use the Green Screen Organic Sunscreen SPF 32 Original - Vegan - Gluten-free or Babo Botanicals SPF 40 Daily Sheer Facial Sunscreen, Unscented), but when we are on the go or at the beach, I wanted to make it as easy as possible to apply. We bought this for a beach getaway over the summer and it really surprised me. It is an easy application (shake, spray, rub) and it really worked. Two children and two adults used this on the entire body and face along with some extra stick protection on the face. I reapplied a few times, but not religiously and no one got a burn... no one really even got a tan. It says that it is sweat and water proof up until a certain point and I believe it really is because we were in scorching heat on the beach (in the water too) and no one had any issues. The great thing is that it really did make application easy so I think we reapplied more appropriately than we would have with a regular tube of sublock. I am not experienced with spray sunblocks so I cannot compare with others, but I believe it is similar. Note, since this is a nontoxic sublock that is zinc based, it does go on white and also sprays whatever it gets on white, but I didn't have any problems. It rubs in very easily and seemed to come off of carpet, clothes, etc. very easily as well. This is now a regular go-to for us even on non-beach days.

Ok, but not great for the price.
Size: 6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
The good: 1. Doesn't have that typical sunscreen sent. (I hate that smell so that is a major plus for me.).
2. Doesn't burn my eyes
3. Doesn't clog my porse (some sunscreen gives me back acne)
The bad: 1. On my skin (And I suspect anyone who has melanin ) it leaves a chalk-like film that makes me look ashy.
2. When you spray it IT GETS EVERYWHERE! On the floor, walls and pretty much tow feet from wherever you are standing.
3. I bought this at the 1st of the month it's 18th and the bottle is EMPTY! And I didn't even use it every day (obviously only used when I was outside in the sun.)
4. Feels chalkie on the skin.
Overall while not a bad product, I will not be purchasing again too many issues and cons for the price.

My favorite sunscreen
Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
The BEST sunscreen I have tried. I LOVE this unscented Coola. It goes on smooth and doesn’t feel sticky at all, you will forget you have it on. It truly is unscented and so light. It’s also effective protection from the sun.
