Cy Endfield (1914-1995) was a filmmaker who was also fascinated by the worlds of close-up magic, science, and invention. After directing several distinctive low-budget films in Hollywood, he was blacklisted in 1951 and fled to Britain rather than "name names" before HUAC, the U.S. House of Representatives' Un-American Activities Committee. The Pennsylvania-born Endfield made films that exhibit an outsider's eye for his adopted country, including the working-class "trucking" drama Hell Drivers and the cult film Zulu-a war epic as politically nuanced as it is spectacular. Along the way he encountered Orson Welles, collaborated with pioneering animator Ray Harryhausen, published a book of his card magic, and co-invented an early word processor that anticipated today's technology. The Many Lives of Cy Endfield is the first book on this fascinating figure. The fruit of years of archival research and personal interviews by Brian Neve, it documents Endfield's many identities: among them second-generation immigrant, Jew, Communist, and exile. Neve paints detailed scenes not only of the political and personal dramas of the blacklist era, but also of the attempts by Hollywood directors in the postwar 1940s and early 1950s to address social and political controversies of the day. Out of these efforts came two crime melodramas (what would become known as film noir) on inequalities of class and race: The Underworld Story and The Sound of Fury (also known as Try and Get Me ). Neve reveals the complex production and reception histories of Endfield's films, which the critic Jonathan Rosenbaum saw as reflective of "an uncommon intelligence so radically critical of the world we live in that it's dangerous."
The Many Lives of Cy Endfield is at once a revealing biography of an independent, protean figure, an insight into film industry struggles, and a sensitive and informed study of an underappreciated body of work. Best Five Books of the Year list, Iranian 24 Monthly, London UK "Make s] a case for Endfield's] distinctive voice while tracing the way struggle, opposition, and thwarted ambition both defined his life and became the powerful themes of his best work."-Cineaste

This Thing WORKS!!!
Color: White
I have to rave about the quality and the "intelligence" of this product. When I first got it, I installed it in my kitchen along an exterior wall, about 25' away from cooking appliances. I noticed within the first week that the air in our house smelled much cleaner and overall fresher. It was a noticeable difference. We live right next to a gravel road, so there is constantly dust floating around. We notice far less dust in the air as well. The purifier was very easy to set up. I removed it from the box, inserted the filter, and plugged it in.
Where I really noticed that it does a fantastic job was when a plastic packet got left on our stove element and began melting. The smoke and smell were obvious right away, and this purifier kicked in immediately, going into overdrive and running at full speed to get the smell and a little bit of smoke out of the room. I was extremely impressed.
10/10 would recommend this product.

Way above expectations
Color: White
I was originally looking to purchase a more expensive brand to match the smaller purifier I own but this one was on sale, considerably less expensive than the one I had my eye on. I decided to give the mooka a shot and I was highly impressed. Being a smoker, I was just looking for something to help a little with air quality, I was not expecting this thing to completely filter all the air in the room, removing all the smoke and leaving behind completely pristine, clean air in 30 minutes! As I was smoking, the purifier automatically kicked into high gear, did its job and returned to the near silent setting. Awesome! The machine displays a number that corresponds with the current air quality and a light that changes from red to green, depending on the amount of particles in the air while the fan speed runs accordingly. This feature works well, smoking, cooking or anything that releases particles will instantly be detected. The build quality is on par with the more expensive unit that I have but honestly, I prefer this machine, regardless of price! During normal operation, you can barely hear it but it does get louder when the fan ramps up. On it’s higher setting, it is as loud as a box fan on medium speed and when the mooka goes max speed, it matches the sound level of a box fan set to high speed, if that helps.

Solid purchase for everyday use.
Color: Orange
Can’t really say to much about these. They have a strong magnet and are durable enough for everyday use. I use them to hang my compression leggings from normatec as well as other accessories. They work well and are at an affordable price. Hook size is ok. I feel like most items you would hang have no issue. Have not loaded them with to much weight but I’m sure they can hold a fair amount.

can always use more
Color: Black
I keep buying more of these for fitness equipment storage. I got long and short hook models and very strong magnets hold up pull down attachments weighing 10lbs or more. Works great for belts, carabiners and anything you want to organize in the weight room.
