Viburnum lentago ~ NannyberryNannyberry is a large multi stemmed native deciduous shrub with an upright habit that can be trained as a small tree. Its glossy and finely toothed dark green foliage has a fall color that varies from dull yellow to red purple. Flat topped clusters of white flowers bloom in spring and are followed by blue black drupes that persist in winter. Flowers best in consistently moist well drained soils. Flat-topped clusters of white flowers bloom in spring and are followed by blue-black drupes that persist in winter.   Flowers best in consistently moist well-drained soils.  

Viburnum lentago also acts as a host for the Spring Azure butterfly.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low Maintenance.  Prune immediately as needed after flowering.  No serious pests or diseases.  Mildew and leaf spot are occasional problems.  Remove root suckers to prevent spread unless naturalization is wanted.
