LP version with CD included. He was known at first as a traditional singer/songwriter with simple arrangements of acoustic guitar and vocals, a French cousin to Will Oldham and Jason Molina. Then he became the leader of a rough and enraged band who recorded Off the Map (BEC 5161299/5161300, 2013), an electric storm of a record, with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago. But the truth is we hadn't seen anything yet. H-Burns is back to prove once more that it's possible to stay true while endlessly reinventing oneself. Calmer, poppier, cleaner, more Californian, but still anxious and sorrowful, Night Moves was produced by the all too rare Rob Schnapf (who has previously worked with Beck, Elliott Smith, and Guided By Voices) with a group including A. A. Bondy (Verbena) and Troy von Balthazar (Chokebore). The result: 11 songs orchestrated around theme of nighttime in Los Angles. A restless and troubled night with the insidious threat of an earthquake lurking in the shadows. There are ghosts there too, those of Elliott Smith, Brian Wilson, Neil Young, Roy Orbison, and Bruce Springsteen.

Great for my hot rod!

Perfect oil for my hot rod! Add a bottle of zinc and you get great low temp flow as well as good heat protection. As a 0W it flows quickly for good start up protection and the 40W means I get good protection as temps rise. My car has a flat tappet hydraulic cam so I add a bottle of zinc. Has worked great!

Yes, I know what the label says. “European Car Formula.”
Yes, I put it in a 2002 Subaru WRX bugeye with an EJ257 block and EJ205 heads.
And yes—this oil absolutely slaps.
This engine is not stock, not delicate, and definitely not living an easy life. It sees spirited driving, boost, and the occasional questionable decision. After switching to Mobil 1 0W-40, cold starts are smoother, oil pressure is rock solid, and the motor just feels happier. No weird noises, no drama, no oil consumption surprises.
The viscosity is perfect for a performance Subaru build, especially if you’re running tighter tolerances or want strong protection under heat and load. It’s thick enough when hot, flows great when cold, and inspires confidence every time I turn the key.
Is it technically “European”? Sure.
Does my Subaru care? Not even a little.
If you’re running a built engine, turbo setup, or just want a proven, high-quality oil that punches above its weight, this stuff earns its reputation. My bugeye may not be European, but it’s living its best life on this oil.
Would absolutely buy again—passport not required.
