Life/Thrills is the Melbourne group's third full-length, and their collective experience (members play in a host of other bands, not limited to Total Control, the UV Race, Exhaustion, Deaf Wish and Dick Diver) will leave you thoroughly unprepared for the beautiful confusion suggested by these ten songs, which seem to have the power of slowing and even stopping time. Suitable comparisons to this music are as disparate as early Cat Power, Arab Strap, the Shrimper roster ca. 1992, the Sun City Girls, and the late '60s/early '70s output of the Red Crayola, but as with much truly original music, Lower Plenty resists direct comparison and defies expectation. Their shambling, discordant presence will relieve you of any preconceptions ? this is one best experienced alone, as the sun fades into the horizon for the night.

Timely, helpful, and easy to read
Format: Kindle
It's not often that I read an entire book in one sitting, but Dr Ortlund managed to produce a work that got me to do exactly that.
He touches on the heart of the issue with the vitriol with which Christians often treat each other. As a Roman Catholic that disagrees with the author on many important issues, I found this work to be a breath of fresh air. Christians of all types should take to heart the message of this book and apply its lessons in their daily lives, but especially when evangelizing.
For years, I've recommended three different books when it comes to the topic of communication, and after reading this one, I will be adding it as the fourth to that list. Given how easy it is to read, this is a fantastic book to start with.

Practical and Simple Read
Format: Perfect Paperback
I enjoy all of Gavin’s content. While it isn’t groundbreaking, this book is an easy read and great for anyone looking for practical and applicable ways to navigate tensions surrounding tough subjects in today’s social, political, and ecumenical climate. Gavin’s tone is kind and serves like a guide as you read. It can be read in a couple of sittings but still very insightful.

Incredibly Relevant and Balanced
Format: Perfect Paperback
Gavin is probably the person I’d look to first to learn how to handle disagreement and conflict in a loving, Christ-honoring way. This book doesn’t disappoint!
It’s well written and concise. It only took me a couple of hours to get through it.
If you’re a Bible-believing Christian, there’s probably nothing in this book that will surprise you, and that’s all the more reason to read it. I’ve found that the simplest truths that are so often taken for granted are the ones that have the greatest impact when we really take the time to consider them.
This book should be required reading for anyone who wants to interact with others on the internet!
