His primary listener was his great friend author Edward Abbey who said, "Loeffler, this radio series should be a book." Thus, "Headed Upstream" first appeared in 1989 shortly after Abbey's death. The challenging interviews that appear herein (Edward Abbey, Andrew Weil, John Nichols, Stewart Udall, and Gary Snyder, to name a few) reflect many points of view from anarchist to Marxist, from environmental to philosophical, from Beat to historical. Each is highly individual and all reflect deep consideration for the myriad factors that have shaped our milieu. In 2009, Loeffler's close friend Gary Snyder said, "This book should be re-published. It's important." Indeed, it is an important presentation of human consciousness at its best. Jack Loeffler and his wife Katherine live near Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is a writer, aural historian, radio producer, sound collage artist, and lecturer. He has worked extensively with indigenous and traditional cultures throughout the American West, Mexico and beyond. His books include "La Musica de los Viejitos: The Hispano Folk Music of the R o Grande del Norte"; "Adventures with Ed: A Portrait of Abbey"; "Survival Along the Continental Divide: An Anthology of Interviews"; and "Healing the West: Voices of Culture and Habitat." He has produced over three hundred documentary programs for public radio, co-produced or otherwise collaborated on documentary films, written scores of articles, and produced sound collages for many institutions including the Smithsonian Institution, the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Camino Real International Heritage Center, and the New Mexico History Museum at the Palace of the Governors. He is a project director for The Lore of the Land, Inc., a 501c3 organization founded by his late friend Lee (Mrs. Stewart) Udall. He was awarded a 2008 New Mexico Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, the Edgar Lee Hewett Award for Outstanding Service to the Public by the New Mexico Historical Society, and in 2009 was honored as a Santa Fe Living Treasure.Binding Type: Paperback

Marc Joseph's Shoe 👞
Size: 8, Color: Tan Napa
Marc Joseph's Shoe 👞: I ordered a size 8 for my husband. He wears socks with his shoes. It’s a little tight slipping on. Other than that, the shoe is very comfortable. My husband grabs them all the time because they are so comfortable.

Quality Shoe, but slight design issue
Size: 10, Color: Tan Napa, Size: 10, Color: Tan Napa
I like the way these fit and feel. I normally wear a size 10, and these are a 10. Very comfortable to walk in. I think they're stylish enough to wear with jeans or chinos. The leather is nice quality. However, the issue I am noticing, only a few days into wearing these (I've worn 3 times) is that the bottom material doesn't come forward far enough. The tip of the shoe juts out and as you walk the tip rolls forward on to the ground surface and is wearing away at the leather. I mean, I've only wore these 3 times and I am getting major concerns about their durability. I would choose another shoe if I could go back, as these are an indoor shoe only as they're currently designed.

Nice looking
Size: 11, Color: Cognac Grainy
I normally wear an 11.5 (including other Marc Jacob’s- including this make from 2024). The shoes are a pretty soft leather. I had to return for a size 11 which feels slightly tight but now, through experience, I know will stretch. I wear these shoes almost every day in black or brown They look great. Note, these shoes (because all leather) wear out relatively quickly, especially the front. I keep a fake leather Pair (almost identical looking) which are not nearly as comfortable (I don’t take walks in them) but look better for dinners etc.
