In the latter scene, the reunion of the duck family won the hearts of the children, because when the book was first published, it coincided with the Second World War and many children were forced to separate from their fathers. In 1987, during the 150th-anniversary celebration of the Boston Common, sculptor Nancy Schon placed a bronze statue of "Mrs. Mara" and her famous family not far from the iron fence. This door is also famous because of this book. On holidays, hundreds of children would run to touch these bronze sculptures. Now, these brightly touched bronze sculptures are like an immortal monument, praising the immortal charm of the book "Make Way for Ducklings".
