Yorkshire has been a hotbed of motorsport since the early years of the last century. In this book, motorsport broadcaster and journalist Larry Carter presents a selection of memorable motorsport events, competitors, venues and personalities in the county from the 1920s onwards. The Sutton Bank Time Trials and the Harewood Hill Climb started in the early years of the last century and the latter is still going today. The 1938 Scott Trial was held on the Yorkshire Moors as war clouds gathered and in 1971, one of the most iconic RAC Rallies ever started at Harrogate. Yorkshire competitors include Formula One World Champion Mike Hawthorn, several generations of the Lampkin family, Wakefield stars Mick Grant and Denis Parkinson on two wheels, as well as Doncaster ace Tony Sugden and Leeds entrepreneur Chris Meek on four wheels. There is also the tragic Carter family linked to the Halifax and Bradford speedway teams. The lost tracks at Carnaby and Rufforth staged massive races into the 1980s, motocross at Hutton Conyers was regularly shown on TV and Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough welcomed a roll call of world champions for over half a century from the 1940s.

Delving through the archives, Larry Carter has unearthed a fascinating collection of the most memorable motorsport events and achievements over the last 100 years in Yorkshire, which will appeal to all motorsport enthusiasts in the area and beyond.

Just what I was looking for!!
So far,so good. It s the first time I have been trying this product. I really like it. I was looking for something to help me for dryness due to the cold weather and excess of hand washing because of my job. I work in a microbiology lab, so I am costantly washing my hands and they tent to get dry with the specific soap we have to use. I like to feel my hands humected but not sticky. I tried several brands but never got quite convinced to by a brand again because I as not satisfied at all. This hand cream is ligher compared to many others but really protects and leaves your hands soft. You use it once or twice a day and they are still soft.

Miracle cream!
This cream is unbelievable. goes in instantly, makes hands soft after one application and creates a barrier to protect your hands against cold and water. I live in VT and have tried numerous "extreme" hand creams that are heavy and greasy and useless~ this one is the best. I also like that it is fragrance-free except for that mild "Avene" spring water smell. I have two tubes, one for my night table and one next to the kitchen sink. I am 47 and have tried numerous face and body products`` you could say I used to be a "junkie" :) but I always come back to Avene. I have extremely sensitive skin and Avene products are a life saver.

My 75 year old hands appear softer and younger!
Avene Cicalfate Restorative Hand cream leaves my hands feeling very soft! A little goes a long way, I have had mine for a year. Soon I will be purchasing another tube. Yes, it is a little pricey for a hand cream, but does the job better then any other product I have used on my hands. Highly recommend this hand cream if you have dry, sensitive skin. It also has no added fragrance which I really appreciate!
