About the work
Using cut-outs from celebrity magazines, this image, which forms part of a recent series, is based on the theme of 'demon possession' explored in popular TV series, as well as riffing on the tag line 'stars in her eyes', often used to describe Jessica Voorsanger's work. The image is expanded by use of vintage tinted pictures of London taken from a guide to the city, published in the 1950s.This limited edition was produced in response to Richard Hamilton's seminal poster Just What Is It That Makes Today's Homes So Different, So Appealing, which was first shown at the Whitechapel Gallery in the 1956 exhibition, This is Tomorrow.

About the artist
Jessica Voorsanger was born in New York in 1965 and came to London in the 1990s. Working across different media, including performance, installation, collage and mail art, she continues to explore the lure of celebrity in popular culture and the nature of being a 'fan', often drawing from her own childhood and teenage obsessions while she was growing up in 70's America.
