14K Gold Signature Achilles Warrior Pendant

This tiny 14k gold Achilles warrior charm was molded from an original Shiebler bracelet. We loved the tiny size and definition of the original charms, which were cast in silver, and wanted to recreate them in 14k gold. Shiebler was known for his Greco and Roman warrior and his homeric medallions, popular during the Victorian era. Shiebler’s warriors are hard to find, and we were able to catch the definition and a clean profile of the warrior. Shiebler envisioned his pieces as having been excavated from the earth, like ancient treasures that date back to Ancient Greece or Rome, and he would often purposely include indentations and scuff work to create the illusion of an ancient piece. Those details translated nicely into the 14k gold pendants, and we love the old feeling of these medallions. 

This medallion features the profile of the Greek warrior Achilles, who was known to be the bravest and most skilled warrior of the time. According to Greek mythology, when Achilles a baby, he was dipped in the River Styx, a blessing that protected him from all danger—with the exception of his heel. He is often depicted as strong and handsome, wearing a feathered helmet sometimes featuring a dragon. 

The pendant measures 1/2” across with a 4 x 5.8 mm bail. It weighs 1.2 grams. Unmarked but acid tests as 14k gold.
