Inspired by public poster art of the Works Progress Administration in the mid-20^th century, the ATHENS BANNER PROJECT is a collaboration between the Athens Area Arts Council and the Athens Downtown Development Authority to promote messages of resiliency, unity and support for our local culture and community.

Works by Marvella Castaneda, Joey Dunlap, Maximos Salzman, Elinor Saragoussi, and Klée Schell were selected, and 130 banners were printed (26 copies per artist) on 30” x 24” vinyl and given to each of the 130 storefronts in downtown Athens, GA for display during the summer of 2020.
