With their new opus Liturgy of Death, MAYHEM reaffirm their status as the most uncompromising force in Norwegian Black Metal. After four decades of extremity, the band has reached a new apex of darkness: faster, fiercer, and more sinister than anything in their recent catalog. The album unfolds as a relentless meditation on death in all its manifestations – existential, spiritual, and absolute. From the furious chaos of “Despair” and “Funeral of Existence” to the bleak grandeur of “Ephemeral Eternity” and “Aeon’s End”, each track drags the listener deeper into a ritual of misery and transcendence. “Propitious Death” and “The Sentence of Absolution intertwine brutality with ominous atmosphere, while “Life Is a Corpse You Drag” and “Sancta Mendacia” leave no doubt that Mayhem remain unmatched in channeling despair into sound. With Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila, Teloch, and Ghul locked into a unit tighter than ever, Liturgy of Death presents a band not content to rest on legacy but determined to push the boundaries of extremity itself. The result is a merciless record – dark, fast, and unrelenting – that captures Mayhem in their most dangerous and vital form. Forty years since their birth in Langhus, MAYHEM continue to embody chaos, proving once more that Norwegian Black Metal is a force without end.

2. Despair

Coming soon to a Banned Book list near you.
Format: Hardcover
A retelling of Animal Farm but for modern audiences. Instead of focusing on the dangers of communism, it instead focuses on the dangers of fascism. I would say it's very heavy-handed in its obvious critique of the MAGA crowd, but also frightfully accurate and does very well at evoking emotion from you, the reader, who probably also just like me, would be very frustrated watching everyone fall for the DJT-allegory bulldog and it's BS. It's less "1984" and more "It Can't Happen Here" in it's warning about indifference and inaction in the face of growing danger from the autocracy crowd. It saddens me that this is a lesson that we have to keep learning, but I would say this book is probably one of the best ways of teaching that lesson at this point.

A well done graphic novel for children
Format: Hardcover
A graphic novel for middle and high schoolers that personifies animals vis-a-vis “Animal Farm”. The illustration is well done and the prose is easily understandable by children. An adult will probably be needed to explain the metaphors.

Modern Day Animal Farm
Format: Paperback
📚Animal Pound ✍🏻Tom King Blurb: When animals grow tired of being caged and abused, it’s only a matter of time before they have nothing to lose but their cages… When an uprising puts a pound in control of the animals, they make quick comrades, united against everything that walks on two legs. But with this newfound power comes a sudden challenge: how best to lay the groundwork for this new democracy as they write their first constitution. The conditions are ripe for a dictator, primed for instating a new system of brutality and death. When two groups of animals work together will their efforts be enough to prevent further animal authoritarianism? Discover a timely graphic storytelling event from celebrated New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-winning writer Tom King (The Human Target, Love Everlasting) and New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-nominated artist Peter Gross (American Jesus, The Books of Magic), collaborating for the first time ever to bring this enduring Orwellian allegory to life for the 21st Century. Collects Animal Pound #1-5. My Thoughts: A retelling of Animal Farm but for modern audiences. Instead of focusing on the dangers of communism, it instead focuses on the dangers of fascism. I would say it's very heavy-handed in its obvious critique of the MAGA crowd, but also frightfully accurate and does very well at evoking emotion from you, the reader, who probably also just like me, would be very frustrated watching everyone fall for the the DJT-allegory.. This is the rare graphic novel meant to be given to non comics readers. Thanks NetGalley, BOOM! Studios and Author Tom King for the advanced copy of "Animal Pound" I am leaving my voluntary review in appreciation. #NetGalley #Boom!Studios #AnimalPound #TomKing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
