The wet dog problem isn't really a wet dog problem. It's a wet sofa problem, a wet hallway problem, and a dog who's about to shake himself dry across the kitchen wall. The bathrobe is the bit that breaks the chain.

The PawRobe microfiber dog bathrobe is a wrap-around drying robe with an adjustable Velcro closure across the chest. You towel-dry your dog quickly when they come out of the bath — the first sixty seconds, the head and the legs — and then you put the bathrobe on them and let it do the rest. The dog wanders off, lies down, settles. Twenty minutes later they're dry. The sofa is dry. The hallway is dry. You haven't done anything.

It's made from 100% polyester microfiber — the same fabric family as a high-grade gym towel, but cut and stitched to wrap a dog rather than a person. The pile is dense enough to pull water actively out of fur rather than just sitting on top of it. Trim is contrasting — orange on grey, red on blue — so the robe looks intentional rather than improvised. Available in five sizes from XS (Chihuahua / Toy Poodle) through to XL (Labrador / Golden Retriever).

Which size for your dog?

XS for Chihuahua / Yorkie. S for French Bulldog / Pug. M for Beagle / Cocker Spaniel. L for Border Collie / Bulldog. XL for Labrador / Golden Retriever / German Shepherd. Between sizes? Size up — measure neck-to-tail base for the truest fit. Full size chart below.

Why a bathrobe, not just a towel

A flat drying towel and a wrap-around bathrobe sound like the same product. They aren't. Here's where each one earns its keep on bath day:

PawRobe bathrobe Flat microfiber towel Household bath towel
Hands-free drying Yes — Velcro closure, dog wears it No — you hold it No
Speed of initial dry Slower (passive, 15–25 min) Faster (active, 1–2 min) Slowest — fibre doesn't pull water
Stops the post-bath shake Yes — wraps the body No No
Keeps the sofa / car / hallway dry Yes Only while you hold it Briefly
Best for After-bath, post-swim, rainy walks Head, face, paws, quick rubs Backup only

If you're doing this properly: the flat microfiber drying towel handles the first sixty seconds — head, face, paws, the high-priority zones. The bathrobe handles the next twenty minutes while your dog settles. They're not alternatives; they're a sequence.

What you get

  • 100% polyester microfiber, dense pile. Pulls water actively out of fur rather than sitting on top.
  • Adjustable Velcro chest closure. Wraps comfortably without slipping when the dog moves.
  • Five sizes from XS (Chihuahua) to XL (Labrador). Size up if between.
  • Contrast trim — orange-on-grey, red-on-blue — looks intentional, not improvised.
  • Machine washable cold. Tumble dry low. No fabric softener (kills the absorbency).

How to use it after a bath

  1. Towel off the head, face and paws first. Use a flat microfiber towel or a hand cloth — the fast active dry. About sixty seconds. This is where most of the immediate drip stops.
  2. Wrap the bathrobe around the body. Fold it over the dog's back, bring the chest panel under and around, fasten the Velcro snugly but not tight. You should be able to slide two fingers under the closure.
  3. Let them lounge. The dog settles. The robe absorbs. Fifteen to twenty-five minutes later, fur is dry to the touch. Take it off, hang it on a hook to air-dry, machine wash it after a few uses.

That's the whole sequence. The point is the middle step — once the robe is on, the wet-dog problem is your dog's problem, not yours. They walk it off.

One care rule that matters more than the rest:

No fabric softener. Ever. Softener coats the microfiber fibres in a thin waxy film, and once that's there, the fabric stops absorbing water — permanently. This is the single most common reason buyers say a microfiber product "stopped working" after a few months. It didn't stop working. It got softener on it. Wash cold, tumble dry low, skip the softener, and the absorbency stays where it should.

The bath-day pair

Most buyers who get the bathrobe also pick up the flat microfiber drying towel — they're a sequence, not alternatives. The towel handles the first sixty seconds (head, face, paws, the active dry); the robe handles the next twenty minutes (the body, the back, the passive absorption). Together they break the wet-dog-on-the-sofa problem completely. Worth getting both if bath day usually involves you chasing a dog round the kitchen with a tea towel.

Full size chart

Measure your dog from the base of the neck (where a collar sits) to the base of the tail. That number maps to the back length below. If your dog is between sizes, size up — a slightly relaxed fit dries better than a tight one.

Size Back length Best for
XS 46 cm / 18.1 in Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Toy Poodle, Pomeranian
S 59 cm / 23.2 in French Bulldog, Pug, Dachshund, Shih Tzu
M 66 cm / 26 in Beagle, Cocker Spaniel, Mini Labradoodle
L 80 cm / 31.5 in Border Collie, English Bulldog, Springer Spaniel
XL 92 cm / 36.2 in Labrador, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd

Frequently asked

My dog is between sizes — which should I pick?

Size up. A slightly relaxed bathrobe absorbs better than a tight one (more fibre in contact with fur, less compression of the pile), and the Velcro closure has enough range to take in the difference if you need to. Tight bathrobes also irritate dogs into shrugging them off — defeats the point.

How long until my dog is dry?

Fifteen to twenty-five minutes for most dogs after the initial towel-off. Longer for very thick double coats (Husky, Newfoundland, Samoyed) — closer to thirty-five. Shorter for short-haired breeds (French Bulldog, Whippet, Boxer) — closer to ten. The robe pulls water; it doesn't evaporate it. Air movement and warm room temperature help.

Can I put it in the washing machine?

Yes — cold wash, tumble dry low. The one rule that matters: no fabric softener. Softener kills microfiber absorbency permanently. No bleach either. Wash with similar colours (the contrast trim can run on a hot wash). The robe is built to handle 100+ wash cycles without degradation if you stick to the cold-wash, no-softener routine.

Will my dog actually wear it?

Most do, after the first thirty seconds of confusion. Microfiber is light and quiet — it doesn't crinkle like a raincoat or weigh like a fleece. The Velcro closure means there's nothing to do up over the head. If your dog already tolerates a harness or a coat, the bathrobe is easier than both. If your dog hates clothes generally, do the first wear with a treat in the room and let them associate the robe with calm-down time. By wear three or four, most dogs walk into it.

Is this just for after baths, or other times too?

Bath time is the obvious one, but real-world use spans rainy walks (put it on when you get back through the door, leave them in it while you take your coat off), post-swim or beach days (it lifts sand and salt water out of the coat at the same time), muddy outdoor adventures, and any time you need to get a wet dog into a car without soaking the seats. It's also useful in winter for short-coated breeds who get cold after a wash — the robe keeps body heat in while it absorbs water.

Does it work as well as a flat drying towel?

Different jobs. A flat drying towel (we sell those too — see the PawDry microfiber drying towel) is for the first sixty seconds of active drying — head, face, paws, anywhere the dog is dripping. The bathrobe is for the next twenty minutes of passive drying — the body, the back, the parts the dog won't let you scrub. Most owners use both. The towel is faster; the robe is hands-free.

My dog has long hair / a thick coat — does it still work?

Yes, but expect a longer drying time and consider the next size up for fit comfort. Long-haired and double-coated breeds (Golden Retriever, Border Collie, Husky, Spaniel) hold significantly more water than short-haired dogs — the robe still pulls it out, but slowly. Towel-dry for a bit longer first, then put the robe on. For very thick coats, two cycles works better than one — robe on for twenty minutes, take it off, give it a quick rinse-and-spin in the machine, put it back on dry for another fifteen.

Say goodbye to neck pain
Color: White, Size: Queen
This is a very good product but it takes some time to adjust removable stuffing to accommodate individual sleeping patterns.

Soft and comfortable cooling pillowcase that gets the job done!
Color: White, Size: Queen, Color: White, Size: Queen
I got this quilted bamboo pillow protector (queen size) because I wanted a cleaner, cooler layer between my pillow and pillowcase since I’m always hot. This has been a great solution for that. The fabric feels soft and smooth, and it doesn’t make that crinkly noise some cooling pillowcases do. I’m a warm sleeper and the “cooling” aspect feels more like breathable than icy-cold, but it definitely sleeps more comfortably than the thick polyester protectors I’ve used in the past. The light quilting adds a little cushion without making my pillow feel bulky or changing the loft much. I like the fact that if you use a memory foam fill pillow you can add or remove some of the filling to make the pillow as firm or mushy as you want. This is especially helpful for people that are side sleepers vs people that need more neck support. The zipper is a big plus. Just be careful when zipping it open and closed as these are usually the first point of failure for pillowcases in my experience. It closes fully and keeps the protector snug so it doesn’t shift around inside the pillowcase, and it gives me peace of mind for sweat / oils and everyday wear. I’ve washed it and it came out fine with no weird shrinking, and the stitching still looks clean. For the price, it feels like good value if you’re trying to extend the life of a nicer pillow while keeping the sleep surface soft and breathable. It’s one of those small upgrades you don’t think about much once it’s on, which is kind of the point. It just works and helps me sleep more comfortably.

Soft and cooling
Color: White, Size: King, Color: White, Size: King
This pillow cover is great! Well made. Not too thin. Fits my queen pillow like a glove. Came out of the washing machine still looking brand new, with no zipper issues, which can happen with lower quality covers. Zero complaints.

Soft, Cooling Pillowcase That Smooths Out Chunky Filling
Color: White, Size: King, Color: White, Size: King
I accidentally ordered the king size instead of queen, but it still fits my shredded latex foam pillow fairly well and feels comfortable. The pillow has small but chunky latex shreds, and the added foam layer in this pillowcase not only smooths out those chunks but also adds a bit of extra thick comfort, making the pillow feel more uniform. It seems to help with temperature regulation—if anything, it’s subtly cooler or at least not any warmer than my previous pillowcase. I’ve washed it twice so far, and it shows no wear and seems well built, so it should hold up over time and seems totally washable. Overall, it’s a very functional item, and compared with similar products, the value seems reasonable; I’m happy with the purchase and just wish I had ordered the right size.

Good quality cover
Color: White, Size: Queen, Color: White, Size: Queen
First, this pillow cover arrived in a plastic bag (see 4th photo), not a box as the photos online show. Although that does not matter to me, it may matter to other people such as those who intend to give this as a gift. One of the photos I included shows the fabric makeup which is mostly polyester and memory foam with the outer cover having “40% Bamboo Rayon.” It seems like an overstatement to me to market this product as a “quilted bamboo pillow cover” where there’s very little, if any, actual bamboo in it. If you have read up on what “bamboo rayon” actually is, you’ll understand. The material make up aside, the cover is soft and puffier than a cotton pillowcase. Bamboo rayon does have qualities that allow airflow for a cooling type of effect. It washes very nicely. As for the size of the pillar cover, I have tried several pillows inside this case, and the case is at least 2 inches longer than every standard pillow I own (See second photo). Pillowcases with a zipper generally are more fitted in every dimension. This pillow cover fits in all dimensions, except for it is longer than necessary. Not a horrible thing, but worth mentioning. The sewing of this product is good. It has a standard plastic zipper. There’s piping around the entire seam area for touch of class. The gray piping on mine matches the quilting. This is not quilting of the standard sense where threads go through to the other side. It is more of a faux quilting, which you can that on the inside in the photo with the tag. Overall, it seems to be a good product especially for people who sweat when they sleep.
