Installation Guide

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable for safety.
  2. Remove the Lower Unit: Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase from the outboard's midsection. You may need to disconnect the shift linkage.
  3. Access the Water Pump: With the lower unit removed, locate and unbolt the water pump housing.
  4. Disassemble Old Pump: Remove the old housing, impeller, wear plate, gaskets, and seals. Note the orientation of the old impeller vanes.
  5. Clean and Inspect: Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces, removing any old gasket material or debris.
  6. Install New Components: Place the new gasket and wear plate onto the gearcase. Install the new drive key onto the driveshaft.
  7. Install New Impeller: Slide the new impeller down the driveshaft. Turn the shaft clockwise while pushing down to correctly bend the vanes.
  8. Install Housing: Apply a light coat of marine grease to the inside of the new housing and install it over the impeller.
  9. Secure Housing: Align and install the new housing bolts. Tighten them to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications in a crisscross pattern.
  10. Reinstall Lower Unit: Guide the lower unit back into place, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft align correctly. Secure the bolts.
  11. Final Checks: Reconnect the battery. Start the engine using a water supply (flushing muffs) and verify a strong, steady stream of water from the tell-tale outlet.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Q: How do I confirm this kit fits my Mercury engine?

A: The most reliable way to ensure compatibility is by checking your engine's serial number. Compare your serial number against the ranges provided in the "Compatible Engine Models" tables above. If you're still uncertain, feel free to contact our support team with your engine's model, year, and serial number for assistance.

Q: What are the common signs of a failing water pump?

A: A weak, intermittent, or completely absent stream of water from the "tell-tale" outlet is the most direct sign of a problem. You may also experience engine overheating, which can trigger an audible alarm or cause the engine to enter a power-reduction mode.

Q: How often should I replace the water pump impeller?

A: For preventative maintenance, it is generally recommended to replace your outboard's water pump impeller every 1 to 2 years, or every 100 to 200 hours of use, depending on operating conditions (e.g., saltwater vs. freshwater). Always consult your engine's service manual for the manufacturer's specific maintenance schedule.

Q: Is this an OEM part or an aftermarket part?

A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part, not an OEM component. We build our parts to meet or exceed OEM specifications using comparable, high-quality materials. Production occurs in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected to ensure consistent quality and performance.

Q: How fast do you ship and what are the costs?

A: We offer fast global shipping, with most orders arriving within 5 to 15 days worldwide. Standard shipping is free. Depending on your location, expedited shipping options may be available at checkout for an additional fee.

Q: What is your warranty and return policy?

A: This product is covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal operating conditions. If you encounter an issue, please contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window for items that are unused and in their original condition. Please refer to our full policy page or contact us for instructions.

Natural Dunlop Latex Topper Has Multiple Uses
Size: Twin XL 2"
This is a well made, high quality, 2” thick piece of all-natural latex. You can use it on top of any bed to provide a nice, comfortable mattress topper that has a medium-firm feel to it. It gives good support for those who sleep on their back and on their sides. The latex topper springs back and sleeps cooler than memory foam toppers, which compress and generally sleep hot. Latex toppers cost more upfront than memory foam toppers, but they can last twice as long. I built a custom-made all-natural latex bed that was too soft and didn’t provide enough support. I removed a 2” thick piece of ultra soft (#14) Talalay latex inside the bed and replaced it with this 2” thick piece of Dunlop latex for more support. I then used the Talalay latex on top as a mattress topper and now my bed is perfect! Once you’ve slept on all- natural latex, you’ll never want to go back to artificial memory foam.
