Care Requirements
Goniopora corals can be moderately challenging to keep, as they are sensitive to water quality and lighting. However, newer aquacultured varieties are more resilient.

- Sources: LED, T5, or metal halide lighting.
- Placement: Mid-level in the tank; avoid direct, intense light that can bleach the polyps.
2. Water Flow
- Flow: Moderate, indirect, and steady.
- Strong flow can cause polyps to retract or tear, while too little flow can lead to detritus buildup.

Feeding
While Goniopora has photosynthetic zooxanthellae, it also benefits from direct feeding.
- Foods: Phytoplankton, zooplankton, rotifers, or specially formulated coral foods (like Reef Roids).
- Frequency: 2–3 times per week.
- Gently target feed with a turkey baster or coral feeder when polyps are fully extended.
Placement Tips
- Keep away from aggressive neighbors; tentacles can sting or be damaged by others.
- Avoid areas prone to sediment accumulation.
- Place in a stable environment where lighting and flow are consistent.
