A New York Times Bestseller A Washington Post Bestseller A Los Angeles Times Bestseller Named a "Best Essay Collection of the Decade" by Literary Hub A Book Riot "Favorite Summer Read of 2020" A Food Tank Fall 2020 Reading Recommendation Updated with a new introduction from Robin Wall Kimmerer, the special edition of Braiding Sweetgrass, reissued in honor of the fortieth anniversary of Milkweed Editions, celebrates the book as an object of meaning that will last the ages. Beautifully bound with a new cover featuring an engraving by Tony Drehfal, this edition includes a deckled edge and five brilliantly colored illustrations by artist Nate Christopherson. In increasingly dark times, we honor the experience that more than 350,000 readers in North America have cherished about the book—gentle, simple, tactile, beautiful, even sacred—and offer an edition that will inspire readers to gift it again and again, spreading the word about scientific knowledge, indigenous wisdom, and the teachings of plants. As a botanist, Robin Wall Kimmerer has been trained to ask questions of nature with the tools of science. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that plants and animals are our oldest teachers. In Braiding Sweetgrass, Kimmerer brings these two lenses of knowledge together to take us on “a journey that is every bit as mythic as it is scientific, as sacred as it is historical, as clever as it is wise” (Elizabeth Gilbert). Drawing on her life as an indigenous scientist, and as a woman, Kimmerer shows how other living beings—asters and goldenrod, strawberries and squash, salamanders, algae, and sweetgrass—offer us gifts and lessons, even if we've forgotten how to hear their voices. In reflections that range from the creation of Turtle Island to the forces that threaten its flourishing today, she circles toward a central argument: that the awakening of ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world. For only when we can hear the languages of other beings will we be capable of understanding the generosity of the earth, and learn to give our own gifts in return.

I wouldn't recommend it to friends.
Unfortunately, I made a fundamental mistake: I assumed that the longest containers would fit the longest baking liners currently available. Yet, I really should have measured them. Consequently, they do not meet my expectations a result of my own poor approach to the purchase. Aside from that, the items arrived undamaged, though I haven't actually removed them from their plastic packaging yet. I'll give it to someone in the family and won't give it back. I also ordered a triple dispenser in which the magnets are misaligned; as a result, the side used for loading the rolls does not close securely or properly. I probably wouldn't recommend them to anyone, but I’ve decided to keep the triple ones for myself.

Not for Costco size rolls
I was hoping to organize both Press and Seal and Parchment Paper in this bamboo cutter. Sadly, the width of the holes are too small to fit the 'Costco size' rolls of parchment aren't wide enough.

Great storage idea
I was sick of having all my bags and wrap boxes getting stick in my drawer. This worked perfect. The sliding cutters work well. Labels included. Easy to use and good quality.

It does crack, but it’s sturdy. Weird…
We receive the product about a week ago. It was installed on the wall today. We just noticed there is a crack on it. Upon pushing the two sides together, the sides did not budge. It’s sturdy, but has a crack. Look, it’s not a big deal to me. The crack is the reason I rated this product a four star. The crack is part of the character of the product. The plastic piece, that holds the blade, moves a lot. I have to make an effort to hold the wax paper firmly on the top corner. Again, not an issue since the alternative typically causes me to have an uneven cut. At least this cuts straight across with no issues. That said, we knew going into it that this product may not fit in our drawers. The wood part is perfect, fits great. But, the blades (the black plastic sliding part) did not fit and our drawers could not close. We knew this because we measured. DEFINITELY MEASURE AHEAD OF TIME. There are multiple sizes to these products and some are deeper than others.
