Historical Context: The Era of Impressionism and Monet's Influence

The Rise of Impressionism in 19th Century France

The late 19th century marked a revolutionary period in art history known as Impressionism. This movement emerged in France, challenging traditional artistic conventions. Artists like Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir sought to capture fleeting moments of light and color. They painted en plein air, or outdoors, to depict the natural world with vibrant brushstrokes. Monet's innovative approach to capturing light transformed the art landscape, paving the way for modern art.

Monet's Role in Shaping Modern Art Movements

Claude Monet played a pivotal role in shaping the Impressionist movement. His dedication to exploring light and color influenced countless artists. Monet's works, including "Impression, Sunrise," not only defined the movement but also inspired future art movements like Post-Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. His legacy continues to resonate, making him a cornerstone of art history.

The Significance of Portraiture in Monet's Work

Portraiture held a special place in Monet's oeuvre. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Monet focused on capturing the essence of his subjects rather than adhering to strict realism. Monet's ability to layer colors adds depth, making the portrait feel dynamic and engaging.

The Emotional Impact of Color Choices in the Portrait

Color plays a crucial role in conveying emotion in Monet's work. In this portrait, soft pastels dominate, evoking a sense of tranquility and warmth. The delicate interplay of light and shadow enhances Madame Gaudibert's serene expression. Amazing!
Format: Kindle, Format: Kindle
This book was phenomenal, I devoured it within a few days! For this being a debut novel, it is fantastic and I would’ve thought the author was a seasoned author. I have zero complaints about this book. Let me start by saying that the world building was phenomenal. I could picture everything in my head because of how detailed it was — that’s how good it was written. And I absolutely love the “captive/captor” trope so much, it’s become one of my favorite tropes, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that this book had that. I loved the banter between Rogue and Ara — they’re both snarky and witty, plus with the romantic tension, it made the dialogue that much better. Speaking of romantic tension, yes there is spice but not so much of it that it overrides the plot, which I loved. For me, this would probably be on the 3/5 level of spice. This book had a ton of plot twists and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

High on Tropes and Satisfaction
Format: Kindle
This is a great Romantasy book full of action, adventure, and everything you look for in this genre. I won’t lie: it does kinda feel like the author found every common trope from every successful book of this kind and threw them all into this novel. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Especially in romance, there’s a large audience who has specific expectations, and they want them every time. Nothing wrong with that and many times I’m one of them. I have no idea what defines a spoiler honestly, so spoiler alert!!!!!!! Tropes include: Only one bed at the inn/bar Dissatisfaction with life before hunk appears Lost royalty The chosen one Montage of dress up time followed by shocked hunk Forbidden romance between two from rival peoples Power that cannot be controlled, simply guided/asked Gathering intel at the inn/bar FMC who knows how to fight/use weapons well There’s probably more but no need to list them all. Good story and I would recommend!

Unique World, Fun Read
Format: Kindle
I love the concept of a world with all the familiar myths in a whole new dynamic, and this is a flawless execution. It’s not an instalove, by any means, but that just makes the journey more fun in this case. Addi is a true baddie, without being annoying or whining. The guys are jerks, so I’m looking forward to some form of character progression. There’s a cliff, but not a desperate one. No sword crossing (so far anyway, and no hints of it), which suits my current mood perfectly, I just finished an m-preg kick and needed a break. The plot is involved without being convoluted, so it’s a fun and entertaining read while still being interesting. All the stars, and can’t wait to read the next book.

ALL Fantasy Characters In One BOOK!
Format: Paperback
4.5 stars Faes, vampires, mages, shifters and wolves ALL in one book, yes please!! Oh my gosh, this book kept me reading and wanting more. The tension between the FMC - Addi and the MMCs - Raiden, Cassian, Kryll and Brody was high, I didn't know if it would be Addi to break or one of the four men. The Kingdom of Floodborn is in ruins. The origins, Fae, Humans, Shifters, Mages, Wolves and Vampires come to Heir Academy to see if they have the will, strength and capability to become the next savior for the kingdom. This is the first book I've read from K.C. Kean and I'm left feeling, WTF!! It was a great read and I couldn't get enough. I will be diving into the second book of this series, I can't wrap what I just finished, I need to know more!
