Many BMWs come with OEM charge pipes made from plastic. While this keeps costs low for manufacturers, it often leads to issues when dealing with pressurised air. Over time or with increased boost, these pipes can fail, leading to reduced power or, in some cases, a complete shutdown of the vehicle. A broken charge pipe means you’ll need to replace it before the car can start again, which could leave you in a difficult situation.
Unlike many aftermarket options that use a basic design of two pipes connected by a straight silicone hose, the do88 charge pipe is engineered for durability and performance. Here’s why it matters:
- Flexible Connection: Our design includes a flexible hose connection between the upper and lower pipes to handle thermal expansion and contraction. This prevents the hose from popping off, resolving issues seen with less sophisticated designs.
- Enhanced Performance: The charge pipes feature a larger diameter and smooth mandrel bends. The lower pipe measures 60mm (2 3/8”) and the upper pipe 76mm (3”). This design effectively reduces pressure drop, improving airflow and reducing turbulence.
The do88 charge pipe connects seamlessly to the throttle body using a CNC-machined flange and offers two 1/8 NPT ports for optional methanol injection or a boost pressure sensor. We also include two 1/8 NPT plugs if you choose not to use these ports.
