Mamey - Cubaris Murina Isopods (10 Count)

The cleanup crew for any bio-active enclosure! These captivating crustaceans, a highly sought-after color morph of the robust Cubaris murina, are renowned for their striking appearance, hardy nature, and impressive breeding rate. Made by crossing the "Tangie" and "Papaya" morphs over multiple generations, the "Mamey" morph boasts beautiful peach, amber, and orange hues. They are a true powerhouse for maintaining a healthy, self-sustaining ecosystem while adding a pop of unique color to your setup.

Why choose Reptile Deli "Mamey" Isopods?

  • Effortless Cleanup Crew: These are the ultimate "roly-poly" janitors! They diligently consume waste, decaying plant matter, and mold, actively preventing the buildup of harmful bacteria and fungi. Their natural scavenging habits keep your terrarium clean and balanced.
  • Prodigious Breeders: Like standard Little Sea Isopods, the Mamey morph is celebrated for being highly prolific. They ensure your colony grows quickly, providing a consistent cleanup crew and a self-sustaining colony with minimal intervention.
  • Essential Bioactive Component: A vital part of any successful bioactive setup, these isopods work in harmony with springtails to cycle nutrients and enrich the soil, leading to a more natural and stable environment for your pet.
  • Great for Most Vivariums: Adaptable and hardy, Cubaris murina thrive well in both tropical and moderately arid settings. They are excellent for breaking down fecal matter, rotting foliage, and other organic debris, making them a top choice for maintaining a pristine enclosure.
  • Perfect Beginner Cubaris: Known as the absolute best starter species in the popular Cubaris genus, they offer the gorgeous look of exotic isopods but with a much easier care regimen, allowing you to learn and grow with your colony.

Each order contains a minimum of 10 isopods at various life stages. We also include a culture starter cup containing a safe shipping medium to ensure your isopods arrive healthy and ready to be introduced directly to your vivarium!

Complete your bioactive setup and support your new colony with these top-quality products:

  • Reptile Deli Springtails: The perfect partner for your isopods! Springtails work on a micro-level, cleaning up mold and detritus that isopods might miss, creating the ultimate cleanup crew synergy.

  • Reptile Deli Bioactive Substrate: A specially formulated blend of organic materials that provides the perfect home for your isopods and plants, promoting healthy soil and a thriving ecosystem.

  • Reptile Deli Isopod & Springtail Food: A nutritious, all-in-one food mix that ensures your cleanup crew is healthy, happy, and multiplying rapidly. This supplement helps them thrive when there isn't enough decaying matter in the enclosure.

  • Reptile Deli Cork Bark & Leaf Litter: Essential for providing your isopods with shelter, moisture retention, and a natural food source. They love to hide and forage beneath these natural materials.

[Quick Care Guide]

  1. Housing: A small container (like a shoebox-sized plastic tub) with good ventilation works well. Use a bioactive substrate as a base.
  2.  Substrate: We recommend our BIO MIX, but if you would like to make your own,  mix of coconut coir, compost, and sphagnum moss is ideal. Keep one side of the substrate moist and allow the other to be slightly drier.
  3. Temperature & Humidity: Maintain a temperature between 68-78°F (20-25°C). Keep humidity moderate, providing a humid hide with wet sphagnum moss.
  4.  Food: Offer a varied diet of decaying leaf litter, soft rotting wood, and occasional supplements like Reptile Deli Isopod & Springtail Food, fresh vegetables (like carrots or zucchini), and calcium powder.
  5. Maintenance: Mist the moist side of the enclosure as needed to prevent it from drying out. Replenish food sources and leaf litter every few weeks. With proper care, your colony will flourish!

My puppy LOVEs this ball
Color: Glow in the dark I, Size: Medium
I saw someone recommend this ball in a facebook group. I ordered the first one and it is now sitting somewhere under my deck and I can't find it. My dog loved it so much I had to order a second one. I think the fact there are so many tabs it makes it easy for him to grab it and run so very functional. He doesn't always like to share. The glow in the dark ability I would rate that good at all. The rest of the ball is good quality and holds up well against my aggressive chewer. Its easy to throw or kick. It isn't super hard but is holds it shape well. My dog is about 8 months old and is a mini goldendoodle. I think he was about 18lbs in the video. Perfect size for him. I would definitely recommend, I think your dog would love it!

Corgi goes crazy for this ball
Six months now, still five stars. It is still easily our Corgi’s favorite ball & she still enjoys it all kinds of ways. Rather than tiring of it she likes it even more. She really likes the tabs that make it so easy to grab & hold onto. The ball is all roughed up & torn up still but held up well & has not had to be pumped back up at all. As others noted a small manual ball pump, about 10” with i think 3 different attachments, is included with each order. The glow in the dark stuff is apparently a coating of some kind which has been totally rubbed off. I used an art pen with glow liquid to trace the pattern on the ball for a glow refresh, we’ll see how long that lasts. It is hard to find toys she likes that much, i highly recommend! Our Welsh Corgi goes nuts for this slightly smaller size soccer ball. She had a full-sized ball that we left slightly deflated so she could run with it. This one is even better than i ever would’ve guessed it would be! The tabs, including a longer tab useful as a handle for humans, make it easy for her to grab it or run all over playing keep away with it. Not interested in herding this ball when she can run all over the yard with it or carry it everywhere with her. She’s a super strong chewer in spite of being small so it is extra durable by our tough standards & it appears that it will last at least a year im guessing. Quality materials & craftsmanship. It’s held up over a month - roughed up but not excessively. The glow in the dark feature is not as bright as the photos - don’t buy it just for that - but it glows some given enough daytime sun, and a dark night so the glow can show. Only the top side of the ball that’s facing up can absorb the sunlight at a time so it’s unlikely that the entire ball could get the amount of sunlight needed to glow brightly all at once. All and all this is the best, most well used toy purchased for her during her one year with us, well worth the $$ and recommend buying it if your pet enjoys balls, keep away, herding, and/or fetch, anything like that. She also likes to hide it from me, just the right size for that.

Pawsome product!
Color: Glow in the dark I, Size: Medium
Pawsome for our doggos! We have bought 5 because the puppy chewed the tags off. Our dogs are border / aussie mix and love the challenge of these balls. We named them "Wilson" because they treat them like their best friend.

My Monster Dogs destroyed these balls
Color: Glow in the dark II, Size: Large
I was so excited to get two of these balls for my doodle puppies to have to play with . THEY DESTROYED THEM IN ALL OF TEN MINUTES. I don't believe that there was anything wrong with the balls. They were beautiful, high quality balls. Just not durable enough for my doodles.
