This is a fully functional shinken crafted in the Showa period, designed for light and agile handling. The blade is unsigned (mumei) yet displays fine workmanship, with proportions ideal for one-handed use and swift kata execution.
The polished steel reveals a well-defined gunome-midare hamon, undulating gracefully along the cutting edge. With a cutting length of 61.2 cm and a moderate 1.5 cm curvature, the sword offers excellent balance and responsiveness, making it highly suitable for iaidō, battō, and tameshigiri.
The koshirae features an iron sukashi tsuba with an elegant openwork design, combining structural strength with visual appeal. The tsuka is wrapped in dark blue silk over white samegawa (ray skin), secured with a single mekugi. The plain iron fuchi-kashira are robust and functional, complementing the understated elegance of the mounting. The saya draws smoothly, ensuring readiness for martial practice or display.
