16x magnification in a handheld binocular sounds great on paper — until your pulse turns every view into a seismic event. The Kite Optics APC 16x42 pushes stabilized handheld magnification to its practical maximum — 16x in a binocular you can carry around your neck all day. Kite's KDGS gimbal stabilizer makes 16x genuinely usable handheld, revealing plumage detail, facial features, and distant signage that even stabilized 12x models can't resolve.

Key Features
  • 16x stabilized magnification with APC smart power — Kite's Angle Power Control system engages the KDGS gimbal the moment you raise the binoculars to observing position and sleeps when you set them down. At 16x, the stabilization makes the difference between an unusable blur and a detailed, steady image — especially in wind, on boats, or during extended glassing sessions.
  • 120-hour battery life on standard AA batteries — Two active AA cells deliver 60 hours of stabilized viewing, with two built-in spare slots for instant field swaps. APC sleep mode extends real-world battery life to months of regular use on a single set.
  • IPX7 waterproof and nitrogen-purged — Fully submersible to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Built for pelagic trips, coastal seawatching, and marine observation in conditions that would destroy most stabilized binoculars.
  • Full-size 42mm objectives at just 735g — A 16x stabilized binocular that weighs less than many standard 10x42 models. Magnesium alloy construction with rubber armor for all-weather durability.
  • Roof prisms with phase correction and dielectric coatings — MHR Advance fully multi-coated optics deliver vibrant, high-contrast images with controlled chromatic aberration across the field.
  • Twilight factor of 25.9 — The combination of 16x magnification and 42mm objectives produces strong low-light detail for dawn and dusk observation.

Ideal For

Seawatchers and pelagic birders who need maximum reach from moving vessels and exposed coastlines. Stabilized 16x magnification enables species-level identification at distances impossible with handheld conventional binoculars.

Open-terrain hunters and wildlife observers who glass vast landscapes from vehicles, ridgelines, or blinds. The stabilized image reveals detail that would normally require a spotting scope setup.

Marine and offshore professionals needing a waterproof, high-magnification optic that compensates for constant vessel motion across extended watches.

Long-range observation — from airfield spotting to casual astronomy of bright objects like the Moon, the stabilized 16x delivers tripod-class clarity in a handheld package.

returned- for now
Style: Updated Formula
I was using the lotion version of this for about a year, then went to the balm for more hydration. However, it seems to be breaking me out. I think because it's spring, im not needing as much occlusion as i did during winter. I'm gonna go back to the lotion formula, then pick this up again next winter. It is a little hard to spread, but I spray the avene mineral water on, let it dry slightly, and press the balm into my skin when its still wet. That helps thin the balm just enough to rub in. Otherwise, it can actually feel kind of rough!

Impressive
Style: Updated Formula
Nice thick cream! I even saw results (skin improvement) within days. I like this way better than their Cicalfate+, as it’s easier to rub in, less greasy, and doesn’t have the water vs cream separation issue. I’m not a huge fan of the pump top for this one, but at least it’s a tube instead of a solid canister (where you can’t see how much is left or get to the last bit).
