This early Victorian star link chain is a rare, hard-to-find treasure. Rendered in 10k gold, the chain consists of square links, each with a star punched into all four sides. The links lock into each other, creating a flexible snakelike chain with fluid movement. The chain has a long length and fits over the head, culminating in a dog clip that is perfect for clipping charms into the chain. The star links are intricate and unique, while the dog clip allows for versatility. This is a special piece and an interesting part of history and highlights the versatility in chain variations.
The chain measures 27.5”. Each box-shaped link measures 2.10 mm on all sides. The dog clip measures 7/8” long and 5/16” at its widest point. The chain weighs 13.15 grams. The chain tests as 10k gold and the dog clip is marked as 9k gold.
