Ruby Pilven is a Ballarat ceramic artist who creates brilliantly coloured porcelain ceramics. Her work is a contemporary twist on nerikomi, a Japanese technique of hand-building with coloured clay, which allows her to explore both her fascination with Japanese culture and her connection with the contemporary Australian art scene. Her work oscillates between structured techniques and chance operations. She wants her ceramics to inject joy into everyday life.
